My bedroom door was opened in the middle of the night with a thud against the wall. I shot out of bed and let out a gasp. Thorin rose up too, putting an arm in front of me.

"Kili?" I asked. "What is it?"

"It's Gandalf," he answered. "He's back."

"And you woke us up in the middle of the night to tell us this, why...?" Thorin asked with agitation in his voice.

Kili shook his head. "Gandalf said to gather you up. I don't know why."

With that, Kili left us with the door wide open. Thorin and I exchanged an eye roll, but reluctantly got out of bed.

We held hands and walked down to a landing where Gandalf, Kili, Fili, Tauriel and Balin were all standing.

"Jaedda, Thorin," Gandalf greeted. Thorin and I nodded our heads to him.

"What brings you back so soon, Gandalf?" I asked.

"I've been informed of a terrible misfortune," he began.

Thorin and I exchanged a glance.

"And what misfortune would that be, exactly?" Thorin asked.

Gandalf sighed. "The wizard Sauromon has told me that Azog the Defiler has been resurrected."

Thorin creased his brows. "Hold on. So you mean I did kill him in the battle of five armies?"

Gandalf nodded. "In theory."

"And now he's been resurrected..." I confirmed. Gandalf nodded again. "By whom, might I inquire?"

"The same person who tried to kill off the line of Durin: The Necromancer."

"Why has he resurrected Azog?" Balin asked.

"To complete what death put in the way," a Gandalf answered. "To kill off the line of Durin. But this time, I'm afraid the Defiler is after much more than just the line."

"And what would that be?" Tauriel asked.

Gandalf swallowed. "The entire Dwarvish species."

That made my heart pound. Just thinking about another purge made me want to vomit. The Defiler was already responsible for the extinction of the Nymphs and Skin-changers. Now he was after the Dwarves?

"Who is this Necromancer, and what right does he have to target us?" Fili asked.

"The Necromancer, is an infamous villain. I'm sure you'd recognize his name from a famous battle," Gandalf returned.

"Then...what is his name?" Kili asked.

"His name is Sauron."

Sauron. The greatest villain to ever live.

"Are you saying that he's trying to take control over Middle-Earth once more?" I asked.Gandalf blinked in response. "And why does he need the Lonely Mountain for that?"

"It's not necessarily the Lonely Mountain alone he's looking to obtain," Gandalf began. "He's lost something that he desperately needs to take over; a ring of power."

"A ring?" We all questioned in unison.

"A ring. That ring was in our presence for quite a long time. It was worn by someone around here. It has made Sauron believe it is still here."

"Who wore it?" Thorin asked.

"Bilbo," Gandalf answered. "But, he was not the only one."

We looked around at each other.

"Who else put it on?" Balin inquired.

"I do not know," Gandalf admitted. "I was hoping that one of you would be able to tell me..."

Everyone remained silent. I didn't know. And I was completely shocked when I found out.
