"No no no, white wine will not work!" I exclaimed. "It has to be red or else Thorin will not drink it."
The servants were messing everything up. It was my three month wedding anniversary with Thorin, as was Tauriel's and Kili's.
We were going to have a small celebration that evening, but of course nothing was going right.
"Calm down, my dear," Thorin said, wrapping an arm around my shoulder. "Everything is going to be alright."
"I just want things to go smoothly. Is it really that hard?"
Thorin sighed. "You mustn't fret."
I shrugged. "I'm trying my hardest."
A guard walked up to us. We turned and faced him.
"Yes?" Thorin asked.
"My King, there is someone who seeks entrance into the mountain."
Thorin rolled his eyes. "And just who might that be?"
The guard shook his head. "I don't know. But they say they wish to see Queen Jaedda."
Thorin looked at me. "Are you expecting anybody?"
I shook my head slowly. "No..."
I looked back to the guard. "Let them in."
We walked to the throne room and waited for our visitors to arrive. My heart pounded with anticipation. Who could it possibly be?
Escorted by four guards, two people came walking down the isle way. One of them was cloaked, but the other I recognized.
"Legolas," I greeted. "What brings you to Erebor?"
"I have some...strange news for you, Jaedda," Legolas said. "But I do not believe this is the place to deliver it."
Thorin and I exchanged a glance. "Why not?" Thorin asked.
"Just trust me."
We gathered Tauriel, Kili and Fili and sat at a long table that was used for battle strategy.
"Legolas," Tauriel said. "What have you been doing? Where have you been?"
"I've been off on my own for a while," Legolas replied. "I was searching for someone. Now, I've found him."
"Is that who that is?" I asked, pointing to the cloaked figure.
Legolas nodded. "This is Strider," he introduced. "He's the future king of Gondor."
"Gondor?" Fili asked. "So you're-"
"Aragorn..." I whispered. He removed his hood, revealing brown, shaggy hair and blue eyes, rather handsome.
"Legolas helped me out of a tight spot," Aragorn admitted. "In Gundabad."
"Gundabad?" Thorin asked. "Isn't that-?"
"Yes, it is," Aragorn replied. "I heard that they had some prisoners there, so I went to rescue them. I would've become one myself if Legolas hadn't assisted me."
"And what of the prisoners?" Kili asked.
Legolas and Aragorn remained silent after that question. We looked around at each other.
"And what of the prisoners?" Thorin repeated more aggressively.
Legolas gulped. "When we went in to rescue them, we found a small group of them in a dungeon."
"They were not human, elf, dwarf nor hobbit," Aragorn continued.
"Then what were they?" I asked.
Legolas and Aragorn exchanged a glance. Legolas licked his lips before he spoke.
"They were Nymphs, Jaedda."
My eyes widened. "What did you say?"
"They were prisoners. About three of them," Aragorn answered.
I shook my head. "No. Nymphs have been extinct for over 100 years..."
"I'm sorry Jaedda," Legolas said. "But no."
I stood up. "Will you excuse me for a moment?"
I swiftly walked out of the room. Thorin started after me. There were murmurs floating around the room.
I closed the door only to have Thorin open it back up again.
"Jaedda," he said.
"I don't want to talk."
I began walking away. Thorin grabbed my hand and pulled me into his chest.
"Depend on me," he requested. "I'm here for you."
I started crying. The tears flowed uncontrollably from my eyes.
"I don't know how to feel," I admitted. "Happy, or disappointed, or upset."
"It's alright," Thorin assured. "You don't have to feel anything right now."
Legolas and Aragorn walked out of the room. Aragorn rested a hand on my shoulder.
"I am sorry," he said. "But we didn't know how else to tell you."
"It's alright," I responded.
"Would you like to see who we rescued?" Legolas asked.
I looked up. "Who?"
"We dropped them in the City of Dale before coming here. Let us bring them to you," Legolas requested.
"Thank you," Thorin answered for me. "That would be wonderful."
With that, Legolas and Aragorn nodded and swiftly walked off.
"Who do you think they rescued?" Thorin asked me.
"I don't know," I replied. "There were a lot of Nymphs. I didn't know each one by name."
When Legolas and Aragorn finally did return with the prisoners they had rescued, my heart nearly stopped.
