"What?" Thorin asked. "Your fiancé?"

I nodded. "We were supposed to get married a week after the Orc attack. But, that obviously didn't happen."

"Jaedda," Teodric said as he walked towards me. "We are still getting married, correct?"

I awkwardly looked back and forth between Teodric and Thorin. "Um..." I stalled. "I-I'm married to Thorin."

A look of hurt crossed Teodric's face. "You are?"

I nodded slowly. "Three months ago."

"But...I-"

"Teodric," I spoke as I walked up to him. "I'm sorry. I really am. But, to be honest, we weren't actually in love. It was an arranged marriage."

"But, I liked you. I wanted to make you happy."

"And I am happy," I replied. "I don't know what else to say."

He and the other male nymph, who I didn't know, left the room.

"Jaedda," Thorin spoke. I turned to face him. "You never told me that you had a fiancé."

"I didn't?" I asked innocently.

He shook his head. "Never."

I sighed. "I thought he was dead! It was over a hundred years ago. I have a right to move on from someone that I didn't even marry."

"I know," Thorin said as he let out a disappointed sigh. "I just wish you would've told me. Makes me wander what else you're hiding from me."

He walked off swiftly. I looked from my brother to Legolas and Aragorn.

"I'm sorry for this," I apologized.

Aragorn stood up. "You don't have to say sorry. It is us who brought this upon you."

"No, really, thank you," I said. "If it wasn't for you, I would think that my race was completely wiped out."

Legolas nodded. "It's our pleasure. If there is anything we can do for you, just let us know."

I nodded and they left. I turned back to Thorin. "What am I going to do?"

"I don't know," he answered. "But we're married. We made vows that we cannot break. What do you think you can do?"

I shrugged. "I am not sure. He wasn't actually dead. What I did was reproachful."

"What you did?" Thorin asked with a sarcastic laugh. "What you did?! You married me! You call that reproachful?"

I shrunk back. "If it means I broke my promise to another man, then yes, it is. I'm not saying it is reproachful by me, but it just is in society."

He took an angered breath and started backing away.

"You decide for yourself what you want to do about this." He started walking off. "It is not my business."

"Thorin-"

He put up an arm and continued walking out of the room.

"Well." Kester stepped toward me. "Looks like you're in a bit of a pickle, Jaedda. What are you planning to do?"

"I'll think about it later," I said. "Right now, I am not quite sure what to do."

"Jaedda," my brother said with a step towards me. "You do realize that there weren't any female nymphs rescued, correct?"

I nodded, not quite seeing his point. "What are you getting at?"

He swallowed. "I think you know what I'm getting at."

I sighed. "Just tell me, Kester."

He looked back and forth before leaning into me. "If the Nymph species is going to live on, you have to marry Teodric."
