Rylee's POV-

Lucifer parked in front of a huge building. 'KING' was written in gigantic, gold letters on the entrance.

"This, Ryl, is where my office is," Lucifer announced.

I nodded. I was too busy gawking at it.

"Come on," He said, opening my door.

He held my waist and guided me inside the building.

"Ryl, just stay here. I need to do something," He said, and walked away, leaving me alone in the huge hall.

I walked up to the reception, not knowing what to do.

Two ladies were at the reception.

"Hello, ma'am," The lady with the white shirt greeted.

I smiled at her.

The other lady scanned me up and down with a raised brow.

"Now, who are you?"

I shrugged. "Someone."

She narrowed her eyes. "Why are you here?"

"I want to be here."

"Oh yeah. Do you even know who owns this place? There is no place for you low-life over here," She commented, twirling her hair.

The other woman gazed at her with a dropped jaw.

"Louise, don't you know who she is?!" She exclaimed.

Oh, so the bitch's name was Louise, huh.

Louise shrugged. "Why would I bother knowing who she is?"

"She is the Donna! Look at her crown!" The girl exclaimed, motioning to my crown.

Louise's skin paled and she looked at me trembling lips.

"I-I am so sorry," She stuttered, tears brimming in her eyes.

I raised my hand to stop her. "Save it. Anyways, Louise, what are your qualifications?"

She looked surprised.

"Pardon?" She asked.

"Your qualifications," I repeated.

"Oh, I have a BS in accounts, which I completed from University of Notre Dame in Indiana. I have another degree of accounts- a BAccy degree, which I completed here, in New York."

I was impressed. "Then why are you working here as a receptionist?" I asked, "You seem smart. It's difficult to get into the University of Notre Dame."

She sighed. "Well, Mr. King demoted me to a receptionist."

"Why?"

She hesitated before answering. "I uh, I wanted to date him."

I nodded.

"Listen Louise, I know you just want him for his money. But why? Don't marry rich to be rich. You yourself need to be financially independent.

So, Louise, don't try to seduce men to be rich. You studied a lot, as I can see, and you can have a great, well-paying job. So, instead of attracting men, focus on making money so you can live your life luxuriously. Don't marry rich, be rich."

My mom used to tell me this every time.

'Ryl, a woman can only be respected when she is financially independent. When you are building you career, don't focus on love. Only focus on making money. Once you have a good job, good money, good house, only then can you fall in love. While career-making, love is nothing but a distraction. Don't let any man walk over you. You are my strong daughter, love, remember that.
