Rylee's POV-

And he left. Just like that. I was dying of hunger but I didn't want someone to feed me like a baby. My stomach grumbled for the third time in an hour. I sighed. What was the cook's name? Rose? No. Rylee? No, that's my name. Oh, Ruth!

"Ruth!" I called out loudly, hoping she would hear me.

After a few seconds, the door opened and a young girl walked in. This surprised me. I expected a middle-aged lady. She smiled politely at me.

"Hello Donna, I am Ruth. I cook here. Don instructed me to cook whatever you like," She said sweetly.

"Hey Ruth. I would like to have a veggie sandwich, please."

"Sure Donna," She said and walked out of the room.

Could I ask her for help? Maybe I could.

My thoughts broke when the door opened and Ruth walked in. She carried a tray of juice and a sandwich. She took the sandwich and placed it near my mouth.

Deja vu, eh.

My cheeks turned red due to embarrassment.

She chuckled. "I understand. It's embarrassing, but don't worry. I'm not judging you."

I nodded and hesitantly opened my mouth. She feed me the sandwich and lastly the orange juice.

She placed the empty glass back in the tray and got up to leave but I stopped her.

"Hey, Ruth. Could you like, maybe, chat with me? I'm in desperate need of company," I requested.

"Oh, yes, of course. Give me a minute, Donna. I'll keep this tray back and come," She said and rushed out.

By the look of her face, I knew she didn't get much company.

She came back with a huge smile on her face. She sat on the bed with her hands placed on her lap.

"So, tell me about yourself," I asked her.

"Well, I'm 21. I was born in California. I started working here when I was 19 because my parents died in a car crash, so Don offered me this job. It pays well too."

I tried getting up but then the handcuffs pulled me back. Completely forgot I was still cuffed. Seeing this, Ruth looked at me with pity.

"Did Andrew leave?" I asked, hoping he left.

She nodded. "He accompanied Don and Ford for a meeting. They left an hour back."

My hopes were high.

"Ruth, please help me. I don't want to stay here," I finally came to the point.

 She did a double-take.

"Oh, I-I, uh, I'm sorry but I can't," She said quickly, looking down at her feet.

"Please, Ruth. I was forced. Please help me. I'll make sure you won't get in trouble," I requested, desperation conspicuous in my voice.

She sighed. "I can just unlock the cuffs. How to escape is up to you."

My eyes lit up. "Yes, yes, yes. I'll escape on my own, don't worry. Could you give me the keys to Alexia's chains too, please?"

She skeptically nodded her head and walked out of the room to get the keys.

Okay, so I had 2 plans.

Plan A:

1) Go to Alexia's room and unchain her.

2) Find some way to escape.

3) Once step 2 is done, stay somewhere safe where Lucifer can't find us.

Plan B:

1) Don't fuck up plan A.

Okay, good plans.

The door opened and Ruth walked in. She carried a bunch of keys rattling every time she walked. She slowly unlocked my cuffs. I noticed her pale face. She was scared.

Why wouldn't she be? She was risking her life for us.

Once the cuffs were unlocked, I hugged her tightly.

"You know the risk of doing this yet you helped me. Thank you, thank you so, so much."

She just smiled. "What Lucifer is doing is extremely wrong. He shouldn't force you to marry him."

I heard her say his name for the first time.

"There are several guards surrounding the mansion," She informed.

"Fuck," I cursed, groaning.

"But don't worry. I'll try and distract them."

"How?"

"Simple. I'll tell the guards that the kitchen is on fire. They'll leave whatever they're doing and will rush to the kitchen," She grinned.

"That's smart," I complimented.

"Thank you. I mean it. Now, could you give me the keys of Alexia's cuffs?" I asked.

She nodded and placed the bunch of keys in my hand and pointed out the right one.

I thanked her once again and walked towards Andrew's room.

Alex was still chained but, thankfully, she wasn't crying. She saw me and her eyes widened.

I unlocked her chains and rubbed her wrists.

"How are you here? If Lucifer and Andrew find out we-," I cut her off.

"Lucifer and Andrew have gone to attend a meeting. I asked the cook, Ruth, for help and she gave me the keys. Now, we need to escape, alright?"

She nodded eagerly. We carefully walked down the staircase, making sure no one saw us. We tiptoed across the corridor, making little to no sound. I guided Alexia to the back door in the kitchen. Ruth said that the back door would have fewer guards.

We waited behind the door, hiding, so no guard could see us.

"What now?" Alex whispered.

"We wait. In some time, the guards will leave. Leave that to Ruth."

Few minutes passed and I saw all the guards suddenly running towards the same direction in panic.

Ruth did her job. She distracted them.

"Alright, follow me," I murmured to Alexia and dashed out of the door.

I could hear her following me. This time, we ran from behind the mansion rather than the main road I always took.

Once I saw where I was heading, I froze.

A bloody forest, that's what it was.

Why didn't anyone tell me that there was a forest behind the mansion?!

Alexia seemed as shocked as me.

We had no choice but to run through the forest.

I took a deep breath and ran like my life depended on it. It did, actually. Alexia followed soon after.

While running, I suddenly tripped on a log in the way. I fell down face-first. I grunted.

Alexia extended her hand for support. I held it and slowly stood up.

"Are you fine?" She asked concerned.

"Yeah. I'm fine-"

"Finished running, love?"
