Captain (Kirk x reader)

(A/N: I know how short this is lol, but I'm trying to write as many stories as I can to each of my books and so yeah I'm working quite hard even with exams coming up lol but don't worry, I'll have some more Chris Pine imagines to treat you guys in the future!)

"Guess I got my crew back!" Kirk said, grinning from ear to ear. You groaned. Due to the reckless acts caused by the wonderful captain himself, you were promoted as First Officer on another ship, but now that he got his crew back, you were back on the ship, demoted.

"I really need to apply for that Vice Admiral position." You said to Doctor McCoy.

"You'd be damn good." He replied. You gave a small smile, before walking out of the med bay, and into the vast hallway. Commander Spock nodded his head to you, and you returned the gesture.

You made it to the bridge, enjoying the view you had of the chair. How you longed to sit in that chair. You deserved it more than anyone else. As soon as that thought flashed your mind, Kirk had sat down in the chair, getting himself comfortable, before engaging in a conversation with Sulu. Mustering up the courage you had left, and pushing the hateful feeling, you walked over to Kirk, handing him the mission report and the orders that were given from Admiral Marcus.

"We don't need that." Kirk stated to you. He simply waved you off with his hand, your blood boiling.

"I believe we do, just in case you don't choose a terrible decision and kill us all." You shot back. You held back a smirk as you saw him briefly glare at you. Ah yes, revenge. How sweet it was. In a matter of days, you were this close to becoming Captain of your own fleet; the victory of it was this close to be acquired but nonetheless, the oaf came and ruined your chances. Kirk was back and despite the cheers that were placed by everyone else on the ship, you swallowed the bitter feelings and forced a congratulations. He knew it, too, which made it worse. He knew how much you hated him, how much you desired his position. Of course, at first he thought he was just really irresistible and it wasn't a surprise that you wanted him - I mean, every lady wants him. It wasn't until Admiral Marcus warned him about you did you realize that he was indeed discussing about you wanting his position, not him. No big deal, really. He knew how to handle you - or so he thought...

"Alright then." He grabbed the papers from you, dismissing his thoughts and you walked off to your quarters. He watched you go, admiring you from afar before turning to Sulu and Chekov,

"When I was gone, what was she doing?" He asked them to which the younger man responded,

"She vas actually First Officer, Keptin-"

"A really good one, to be honest, but she was very strict..." Sulu interrupted, turning to face Kirk.

The Captain frowned in response, unsure of what else to say. He just felt that something was off and if he didn't get to the bottom of it soon, he feared the whole crew would be in danger.

Spock had left the bridge to follow you, wanting to know your intentions since the day you rejoined the Enterprise. He's known you for 4 years, and in those 4 years he knew very well how scornful you were of Kirk. You occasionally looked behind; Spock was following you intensely and you needed a way to get him off your tail. It wasn't until an emergency meeting was pulled by Kirk did the both of your run back in the same direction, not caring that only seconds before he was chasing after you. Upon entering the bridge, you once again frowned at Kirk sitting in the seat.

Oh, how badly you wanted to be Captain! You could practically feel your anger radiate off your body and suddenly, all eyes turned on you. You blinked, stepping back before you realized that you had completely missed what Kirk stated.

"Miss (L/N)?" He inquired as you broke from your faze. You perked your eyebrows up to ask what happened.

"I've decided to let you be Captain, for one day... just one!" He grinned and as much as your face brightened up, you both knew that there will be mistakes made today...
