Natalie had just got out of the shower when her phone rang. She picked it up, it was Bucky.

"Hey Nat, I'm picking up a few pizzas from that Italian place. Do you want anything?"

"Oh yes!! I didn't know we were having pizza tonight!" she jumped up and down excitedly. After a day at work pizza was exactly what she needed.

"Yeah, Steve is coming over. I thought pizza would be best. Is that alright?"

"Hell yeah! You've talked so much about this guy, I wanna meet him." He smiled on the other end of the phone and chuckled. "Ok, perfect. So pepperoni?"

She laughed "Always."

Natalie put down the phone and started to dry her hair, which took ages because of her long curls. She put some makeup on and changed outfits a couple of times. She was a bit nervous, even though she knew she had no reason to be. Steve sounded like such a nice guy.

Still, she wanted to make a good impression.

She decided for a pair of tight black jeans and loose white shirt, smart but also casual. She put her hair into a bun, a few shorter ringlets coming out in the front, and went downstairs to get the table ready. She then sat on the couch, Alpine nestled comfortably on her lap, reading a book.

About half an hour later Bucky came in from the front door, holding the pizzas and laughing.

"You're such a jerk." Steve was walking right behind Bucky, holding a bag with a few beers in it. She stood up, holding Alpine in her arms and let her down in her little kennel. Bucky walked in the kitchen and put down the pizzas on the counter, while Steve took the beers out of the bag and placed them inside the fridge. As she approached them, Bucky turned around and smiled at her, he pinched her waist jokingly before placing one hand on her back.

"Hi there." He said with a honeyed voice. She replied with a warm smile.

"Steve, this is Nat. Nat, this is my best friend Steve." Natalie extended her hand smiling. Steve took a few steps forward, opening his arms and hugged her. Natalie hugged him back, quite surprised by the greeting.

He broke the embrace, resting his hands on her shoulders. "It's a pleasure to meet you Natalie." He had a broad smile and the way his hands held her shoulders, she immediately felt safe.

It was as plain as day that Steve was a soldier. As they ate their pizzas and talked, Natalie noticed his rigid posture, and the way he talked and his look so clean and serious. It was a strong contrast with his personality, really. He was very chatty and easy-going, definitely good-looking, and he knew it.

Quite the opposite of Bucky.

Not in the good-looking department, in that they were very much alike. But personality wise, Bucky was very quiet and shy, even with people he knew he rarely initiated conversations. Still in their body language, Bucky was much more at ease, the opposite of Steve. After a couple of beers, however, Steve relaxed in his posture as well, leaning back on the chair and extending his arm on Natalie's chair a couple of times, making Bucky frown.

"So, you guys met in school right?"

Steve took a sip from his beer and nodded. "Buck was in second grade, I was in first. I was in the courtyard one day and this kid from like fourth grade was pushing me around, making fun of me." he chuckled "Buck saw me and came out to help me."
