Chapter Two- Busy Offices and Sexy Backs
Five days have passed since the street fiasco worth twenty thousand pesos happened. I'm still contemplating on what to do. When I told Kyla what happened she suggested that I confront Michael Madrid instead of worrying about the police taking me anytime. I made up my mind so right after my class, I made my way to Lumiere.
Lumiere was one of the country's biggest chains of shopping malls. I think most provinces and cities in the Philippines have Lumiere. The card says Michael Madrid was the CEO. The address at the card was one bus away from the school. I sighed at the thought of spending money for the bus ride.
When I came in the mall, I asked the guard on the entrance where I could find Mr. CEO. He escorted me up to the top floor of the mall. I thanked him when he left and another security in a different uniform took me inside the office floor. We stopped in front of the reception desk. I mumbled a thank you before he left me.
"Hi. My name is Avery. How may I help you?" the woman behind the desk greeted politely.
"Hi there. Um, I'm looking for Michael Madrid." I replied.
"Do you have an appointment, Miss-?" she eyed me trying to ask for my name.
"It's Madi." I answered quickly. "And no I don't," I was starting to feel nervous. "he asked me come here." I handed her the card Michael Madrid gave me. She asked me to sign in a visitor's logbook and gave me a pass. I stood in front of the desk while she made a phone call. After I signed, she stood from her chair and waved her hand.
"This way, please." She led me inside the hallway of office cubicles. I walked behind her. Some people glanced at my way but immediately turned back to their busy work. They all looked professional in their office suits.
Avery was no different. Her hair was in a neat ponytail. She was taller than me but I bet we'd be the same height without her heels. She was wearing a blue peplum blouse, black pencil skirt and black pumps. She looked really beautiful.
The Lumiere office was where one in old jeans and Chuck Taylor's would feel totally out of place. What the hell am I doing here?
"Miss Daniel, this is Carlos. He is Mr. Madrid's executive assistant. He'll take it from here." With that she left me with a guy in a silk gray suit.
"Please sit down, Miss Daniel. Mr. Madrid is in a meeting right now but I've informed him of your presence. He'll be ready for you in a minute. Would you like anything to drink? Coffee, juice?"
"No thank you." I answered. I felt more nervous than ever. "Actually, can I have a glass of water please."
"Of course." He smiled at me. Carlos seemed really nice just like Avery. They were both courteous and pleasant. I noticed how effeminate Carlos was.
I emptied the glass he handed me. I tried to calm my nerves as I mentally practice what I was going to tell the rich bastard. First, I'm not going to pay him a cent because I did nothing wrong. Second, it was an accident. He can't blame it to me. Third, he can't scare me by using the police. He can call the freaking NBI and the Army and I don't give a damn. Huh. I'm ready to face the prick. I'm r-.
"Miss Daniel, he's ready for you." Carlos spoke in a sweet voice. I stood inhaling heavily, trying to gain some confidence but I was taken aback by a tall female who just came out of the door. She wasn't wearing office attire like the others. With her dark make-up and revealing dress, I'm a hundred percent sure she wasn't working here. She didn't look happy when she saw me. I probably interrupted her 'meeting' with Mr. Madrid. I can't help but feel disgusted. Yes. Me and my dirty imagination. I rolled my eyes in my head.
