With a passion for science and everything mechanical, you were always up for creating and building gadgets of all sorts. Anything you could make a project out of , you were doing. At Welton Academy, you mostly kept all of your creations to yourself, in fear of possibly being made fun of. Who else would share the same passion for crafting things from your own mind by the power of smarts and science?
That internal monologue was running through your head as you walked to the lounge after your 2nd week at Welton. Having made no friends, you felt sort of lonely. Walking to class alone, eating at lunch alone, spending your free time alone. Everything alone. But it was rare to have someone share your interest and passions, right? All this school cared about was molding it's students into the next generation of business people.
You plopped down at chair and laid out some papers on a table in front of you. Voices echoed in your ears of boys playing games, talking, and studying. You tuned it all out as you focused on your sketch plans for a miniature mechanical rocket you planned to secretly build. Some people would call it strange to do this, but you didn't care. You loved the thought of building and the science behind it all.
You felt someone come up behind you. Hiding your sketches with your hands quickly, you turn around to see who it is. A boy, with fluffy red hair, glasses, and a small smile was trying to peer behind your hands to see what you were doing. " Um, hello. Whatcha doing?" You said nervously. He sat beside you and stuck out his hand. Apprehensive, you shook it and felt an odd sensation of heat on your cheeks. You secretly hoped you weren't red in the face as you introduced yourself. " I'm Y/N L/N" you nervously greeted. " Hi! The names Steven, Steven Meeks." He smiled. Your hand now off the paper from shaking his hand, Steven looked over your blueprints of pieces to your soon to be project.
" This is going to be a rocket, I presume?" He asked, looking earnestly over your plans. You were surprised at the interest he took in the papers. " Oh- uh,yeah. I don't really have it all completely planned out yet. Just some rough drafts for now until I can think more on how I would approach my technique in building it." You rambled, getting mildly lost in thought. You looked at Steven and found him staring at you in awe like you were an angel or something. You smiled and looked down, embarrassed at your rambles. " Sorry for rambling and if I maybe annoyed you." You mumbled. Could this get any more awkward?
" Oh, gosh, do not be sorry. I love hearing about your plans for this project. I see you have a creative and intelligent mind. My friend, Gerard Pitts," He explained, gesturing over to a tall boy tinkering with metal pieces and wires, " and I, we're building a radio. We could maybe use some help, if you want to come join us? And we can definitely help you with the rocket, if you'd like?" He offered, grinning a handsome smile that made you feel butterflies all of a sudden. You nodded, gathered all your papers and put them in your bag. Following Steven over to his friend Gerard, you three got along nicely as you helped each other build the radio. As it turned out, Gerard Pitts and Steven Meeks clicked very nicely with you. They shared the same passion for building and science as you did.
It seemed you would be spending the remaining days at Welton with two new friends, and definitely one new crush, building different things and sharing amazing memories.
