4 AM at Welton academy was silent. No teachers yelling at mischievous students, no boys screaming, and no heavy footsteps passing your closed door. It was dark, the sun still asleep, along with everyone else.
Or so you thought.
Knock, knock, knock. Who could be knocking this early?
Charlie could have made a discovery about something that is too funny not too share. Stephen and Gerard could be asking about a certain topic to further advance their current project. Cameron could be asking about homework. Todd wouldn't probably knock on your door this early, he's non-confrontational. Knox likes to sleep as long as he can.
That left one person. The bright , the beautiful, Neil Perry.
You and him had grown closer since the beginning of school. To him lingering longer after the meetings to walk with you back to campus, or sitting extra close to you in study groups. He spent many nights talking to you about anything, his voice as smooth as honey and his smile so amazing, and even better, genuine.
The other boys were friendly to you, but Neil was special. You started to fall for him the day he read about J. Evans Pritchard, although it was boring. His voice was like music to you, he could make anything interesting. And you felt very lucky to have him approach you constantly, and him including you in almost everything he did.
So, naturally, you developed a crush on Neil.
Opening the door, you were faced with no one else but him. His brown hair was messy, he was in a long coat, probably covering his pajamas underneath, and he was wearing his slippers. His cheeks had a pink tint, his dark brown eyes were behind his glasses he occasionally wore. And to top off it all off, he was wearing a beautiful smile.
"Hey Y/N. I didn't know you'd be up this early, and I was wondering if you wanted to do something? I woke up and can't go back to sleep." He excitedly whispered. You smiled, and ushered him to come inside, your hand lightly pushing his back to come in to your room.
You agreed, got dressed quickly, and followed him outside. You succeeded without anyone finding you two, and broke for the woods. In between catching your breaths from running, you decided it was a good time to watch the sunrise together.
You kept asking yourself, why is he doing this? He could've asked Todd, but he asked you. You wish you could keep this moment in a film like they displayed at your local theatre. Everything was perfect.
You found a peak in the dry part of the woods, and ushered Neil to sit down. The shadows from the night made him look alluring, and he caught you staring. He let out a cute laugh, and opened his arm that was closest to you. "I mean, it's cold. Body warmth would be good right now. If you're comfortable, of course." He invited.
Your breath caught, and hesitantly went into his body, and breathed a sigh of contentment. He smiled, and you did too.
The sun broke over the grounds of the school, and red and orange light filtered throughout the trees and opening. Your breath caught in your throat due to it being so beautiful. Birds chirping, the wind whistling lightly, and of course the whole situation of this made it surreal.
" Neil, this was such a good idea! We gotta do this more, for sure." You confessed, leaning up and turning to him. He was already looking at you, and he was staring at you like you were the best thing that ever happened to him.
You gulped lightly, and smiled. The effect he had on you wasn't anticipated when you first entered the doors of Welton. But through his wit and kindness, you fell for him.
Your eyes were still on his. His eyes flickered down to your lips and back to your eyes. You didn't even feel yourself nod as you slowly met his lips with yours. His hand went to the side of your face, and be slowly kissed you. Even though it was your first kiss together, you knew this could not be your last. His soft lips had a sense of familiarity, like you had known you would love him forever. He pulled apart for a second, but you couldn't go without this feeling of intoxication he gave you. You kissed him again, your lips moving against his. He pressed your body into his, getting closer than you already were.
Pulling away, again, you couldn't help but smile. Him as well. " Was this whole thing just an excuse to possibly kiss me?" You jokingly asked. He smirked and rolled his eyes. Shrugging, he responded," If it was, would you be mad?" You lightly pushed him, laughing. "No, I would say I had been wishing that that would've happened a while ago, Neil Perry." You smiled.
Nestling back into his arms and watching the sun continuing to rise, no other words would be spoken until you were back to Welton. But in that moment, all you had were shared kisses, longing stares, and the orange sun rising.
