After what seemed forever of playing catch up, I get ready to leave to HQ. I put on my best professional outfit and wear heels. God, heels make me feel like a bad bitch. I strut back and forth in my living room.
"Heel, toe, heel, toe," I repeat a solid 20 times before feeling confident enough to begin my day. I check my phone for the time.
"CRAP I'M LATE. OH SHIT OH SHIT HERE WE GO!" Suddenly, something drops from the sky and onto my balcony.
"Relax, kid. I figured you'd be late, per usual. You know, you're lucky you rank higher than me because I wouldn't do this just for everyone, including your family," a voice says behind me.
I quickly turn around and see one of Tony's many Iron Man suits. A huge smile escapes as the suit opens, waiting for me to step inside.
"Tony I owe you big time. Thank you thank you thank you!" I exclaim to him as the suit talks for him. I step into his suit and it felt like I was home. The feeling of the metal surrounding me gave me a feeling of euphoria, which is fucking weird, but whatever.
"Correct me if I'm wrong, but you owe me a lot. But then again, I'm never wrong." Tony says as my body is fully covered in his suit.
"Yeah, yeah whatever. Don't deny the fact that you missed me."
"Um yeah, I beg to differ. Are you going to keep babbling or are you gonna get your ass over here?" He sasses me back.
"Right, right sorry. Let's roll." I say before the suit takes off.
Holy fucking shit is all that comes to my mind. I forgot this feeling of being in the air. I turn my head and see my apartment become smaller and smaller every second. The suit sends me up into the clouds and I laugh as I become one with the sky. Yes, I know, super fucking cheesy. But hey, can you blame a girl for doing so?
"Fury wants to see you in D.C. first before heading to the tower" Tony says over the intercom.
"I figured he would. He sent me a lot of files to read. Where am I going afterwards?" I ask.
"I don't know. He said 'that information is above my pay grade'. Whatever that bullshit means. I mean come on, where does he think the money comes from?" Tony remarks.
"Haha. Whatever would we do without you Tony?" I reply back sarcastically.
"Well I am the man with the plan and on top of that, genius, billionaire, playboy, and philanthropist. No biggie or anything."
I roll my eyes and release a suppressed laugh. I won't admit it to his face, but I really did miss Tony. He was like the fun father I didn't have. Sometimes I wish he was my father. I know he would have done an amazing job, better than what my so called parents did. But that's a story for later.
"I'll see you soon, kid. It's good to have you back, Lieutenant Commander."
"Ew don't call me that, especially from you. It makes me feel weird."
"Okay whatever. We'll chat later. Pepper just got here and we have a deal to close. By the way, your family is in D.C. with Fury as well. You all have a briefing with him once you get there. Take it easy, kid." Tony says before ending the call.
20 minutes later, FRIDAY informs me that we are preparing for landing. I brace myself for the impact, or well, I prepare myself for a cool entrance. I gotta make my entrance back into the game dramatic, yanno?
BANG! I landed in front of the D.C. headquarters and every agent turn their focus on me. I walk into the building, with a strut, and signal FRIDAY to open the face part of the suit once I reach the front desk.
"Hi there, looking for Fury. Could you point me in the direction of his office, please?"
The receptionist's eyes widen when she sees me, probably from realizing who was talking to her. It's cool and all to be known as one of the greatest leaders of all time, but sometimes I wished people treated me like a regular person. After the fall of HYDRA and SHIELD, we had to start from the ground up. I notice an indent on the ground and a broken glass ceiling. From what I read on the Captain's file, he jumped from the elevator and landed on his shield. I guess they're still working on fixing things.
Damn, that's a whole ass man, I think to myself.
The receptionist points to the elevator and says Fury's office is on the 47th floor. I share my thanks and make my way to the elevator. Everyone looks at me, knowing that I am the highest ranking officer in the building right now. As I enter the elevator with the suit on still, everyone exits in a hurry. I laugh and press the "47" button.
"FRIDAY open the suit and turn on stealth mode, please" I say.
"Right away, Miss Faye."
For a split second, I forgot I was wearing heels and almost fall out of the suit. Luckily, the suit caught me right on time before I made an embarrassing moment of myself.
"Thank you, FRIDAY." I say with a heavy breath.
"Of course, Miss Faye."
After what seemed a long ride, the doors open to Fury's office. Here we go, I think to myself before coming into everyone's view.
"Welcome home, Faye" I say out loud.
