Instinctively, Steve finds a bunch of guards and knocks each and every one of them out. My feet start to hurt, but I keep pushing and pushing. The adrenaline is running through my veins. With every punch, turn, flip, and whatever the fuck I did, I became more alive. This is what I missed. I missed this feeling of being in control for once. That quickly changed when I saw a guard aim for Steve.
"CAP, MOVE!" I yell and manage to tackle him to the floor preventing him from being shot. However, what I did not prepare myself for was to be shot.
I did not miss this feeling.
Steve knocks out that guard and I try my best to hide the gunshot to my rib. It hardly went in. I'm going to be okay. He runs towards me but I yell at him before he comes closer.
"GO! GET EVERYONE OUT!"
"ARE YOU OKAY? DID YOU GET HIT?" yells Steve.
"I SAID LEAVE, SOLIDER!"
I haven't said that in a while either.
Steve runs in the opposite direction of me and helps civilians. At least one person will listen to me.
"FAYE, ARE YOU OKAY?" Kris yells.
"ARE YOU HIT?" Grace says with a thud in the background.
I stand up and take a deep breath before replying back to the group. I did not miss this part.
"EVERYONE SHUT UP AND GET OUT OF HERE! THAT'S AN ORDER."
Silence. Thank GOD.
"Get all civilians out within the next 30 seconds. I'm blowing the place up."
"But Faye-," someone hesitantly asks.
"NOW!" I yell one last time before grabbing the tiny bombs that are connected to the metal contraption on my forearm. I precisely throw them on multiple walls throughout the floor. My heels clicking and the beeping of the bombs flood the room, signaling that everyone has vacated. Fucking finally. My side started hurting more and more. I check my wound and blood is beginning to cover my dress.
Well, this isn't good.
"You guys better be far, far away from here," I say as calmly as possible through the ear piece. "Meet me back at base."
"Yes ma'am," everyone says in unison. I heard their responses with the roaring of their engines, so I know they're already driving away. I walk out of the double doors of the casino and press the big, red button.
Just kidding, it was a tiny red button. Duh!
The bombs at the furthest end of the casino erupt, which gives me a 2 second head start to run. I take a deep breath to brace myself for the amount of pain I'm going to feel.
This better work, Tony.
I twist in the air while opening the tiny, metal stick Nat passed to me before I walked to my car... Sneaky bitch. The device started to grow on me and finished by the time I was about to hit the ground. This was a prototype, so it wasn't guaranteed it was going to work. I just had to put my faith in Tony that he did it right. The bastard did it.
I drive away on a now fully equipped motorcycle and weave out of the casino's entrance way before the last bombs went off. The bike itself is jet black with neon blue lighting. This thing is sexy. I would love to complement Tony on it, but if I do, he will never shut up about it. Therefore, I make the smart decision of not saying anything.
"Faye, we made it back to the tower. What's your ETA?" asks Grace.
"3 minutes out," I reply. "Hey, and get a doctor. I have a GSW to my left side rib cage. It's artificial, but I've lost a lot of blood. Might wanna get some O neg ready."
