Steve's POV
Faye and I make our way back to her apartment with Chinese takeout. Her mood got better through the day, which I made sure happen. I knew she had a rough life from her files, but to hear her experience and her side of the story changed my perspective of her. She really has been through hell and back. I don't know how she does it, because I wouldn't have been able to do it myself. The courage, wit, and happiness she expresses everyday is unmatchable. Whenever she enters the room, she lights it up. Everyone's attitude changes, adding more fun to the table. As we enter her apartment, a dark figure is sitting on her couch.
                              Fury.
"Cap, LC, I'm sorry to intrude on you like this," he says. She sends a confused look, not knowing how he got in. He's Fury. He has his ways. "I'm expecting one more guest before I explain my presence." And as he says that, Tony lands on Faye's balcony.
"Hey, kid," he says with fear in his voice, "we gotta talk." He motions us to take a seat. She places her keys on the counter and I place our food next to them. I can tell something is wrong. Something doesn't feel right. What requires both Tony and Fury to come out to us?
"Cap, I'm sorry. You can't be here for this," Fury says. I tilt my head, not understanding why I'm not cleared for this information. Faye stands in front of me and grabs my hand.
"Anything you need to say to me, you can say to him, Director," she says. I could hear voice shaking.
This isn't going to end well, I think to myself.
Tony is already out of his suit and walks towards Fury. He sends Fury a nod, which Fury can't object too.
"FRIDAY, turn on incognito mood and lock down the apartment," Tony says.
"Yes, boss." She replies. Within an instant, her entire apartment goes black, only leaving the ceiling lights on. We sit down on the couch, still holding hands. I can feel her palms sweat, so I squeeze her hand, hoping she knows I'm here for the long run.
"Do you want the good or the bad news first?" Fury asks while looking at Faye.
With a gulp, she replies "good."
                              "We found Alexa."
Her face turns white and her lips turn blue. She squeezes my hand even harder. I see the tears forming in her eyes. She's trying so hard to not let them fall. It took me a second to figure out who Alexa was.
                              Her goddaughter.
"And the bad news?" She hesitantly asks.
"Your father has her in a hidden location. He's agreed to give you custody of her under one condition," Tony says. "He wants a face-to-face meeting with you, tonight." I can see the pain behind his eyes. It takes a lot for Tony to show any emotion, so seeing him likes this makes me sad. Faye has always been his daughter, despite her biological father being alive.
"First off, he's not my dad. You are," she says to Tony. I see Tony's eyes shimmer and try not to draw attention to it. "Second, how do know if he's serious? He's not exactly the best source. He's a complete piece of shit."
Her face turns red and I can feel the heat escaping her. If there's anything I've learned about her in the last week, it's the fact that it takes quite a lot to piss her off. She instantly stands up and heads to the kitchen. She grabs a bottle from her fridge, tequila. She pours it into a shot glass and downs it without making a face.
"We've located him and checked out the area and facility," Tony says as FRIDAY pulls up a 3D image of the area on Faye's living room table. She walks back to the living room and pulls the hologram of the building.
