Faye's POV

A whiff of pancakes flows from my kitchen to my bedroom, causing me to wake up from my sleep. I roll over and find Steve missing from my bed. I rub my eyes and laugh at the sight of my room: pillows everywhere, throw blankets stacked on my chair, my bedsheet hardly covering my bed, and clothes scattered all over the floor.

God, I wish I could relive last night.

I slowly get up and cover myself with a bedsheet and make my way to the bathroom to freshen up. I grab Steve's shirt and button it up while walking towards my kitchen. A shirtless Steve stands in front of me, cooking pancakes and bacon, which happen to be my favorite breakfast duo. He turns around and lets out a smirk. He walks in my direction and lays a small kiss on my lips.

"Morning, beautiful. How'd you sleep?" He asks, as if he wouldn't know.

"I don't think I need to answer that question, Captain," I reply back teasingly and kiss him one more time. He grabs my hand and takes me to the barstools, which is right in front of the stove. I can't help but stare at him while he makes us breakfast.

I could get used to this.

He places a stack of pancakes on my plate with a couple pieces of bacon and places it in front of me.

"Chocolate chips! My favorite," I say and can't help but smile. I look at him with loving eyes. He grabs his own plate and sits himself next to me.

"I figured you'd be exhausted, so I woke up earlier to surprise you with breakfast," he says. You know, for knowing each other for not that long, we've really experienced a shit ton of life's problems together.

"Hmmm, I wonder why," I say, "care to explain?" I take another bite of my pancakes and stare deep into his eyes. He laughs and places his hand on my thigh.

"You're funny, baby," he says. "Do we have any plans today, darling?"

I take a sip of water before replying back to him. "Yeah, I was wondering if you'd like to go on this hiking trail called the Walk Cliff. It's on the edge of the town and has a bunch of historic houses along the way that we can pass. Afterwards, we could walk through downtown and grab ice cream. And I was thinking of having takeout on the balcony for dinner tonight?"

He cuffs my face with his hands and plants a kiss on my forehead. I think he figured out that I have a thing for forehead kisses.

"That sounds great. When do you want to head out?" He asks with a smile.

"Let's get ready after breakfast!" I exclaim. I'm so happy he agreed to do so. I was slightly nervous asking him, despite us having quite the bonding time the last few days. He makes me feel better everyday. He makes me feel whole.

In return for breakfast, I wash the dishes while Steve gets ready for our adventurous day. I make my way to the bathroom to take a quick shower. I change and throw on my tennis shoes and grab my keys. I toss them to Steve, which he becomes excited about. I guess he likes my car.

He does look sexy driving.

We park at the entrance of the trail and make our way towards the trail itself. The fresh smell of the salty ocean brings me back to my teenage years. I always loved it, and I probably will always love it here. We walk for a good 20 minutes before saying anything. We take a quick break and sit on the rocks before resuming our hike.

"Is there a specific reason you brought me here, baby?" Steve asks. I let out a deep sigh, knowing that this city is in my file. I rub the top of my knees to somehow release the anxiety. Steve grabs my hand to try and relax me. He read the file, but it didn't have specific details. I know I can confide in him, but I've never had to explain myself before.
