Practice Makes Perfect

Faye's POV

I quickly get out of the shower and change into a comfortable set of clothes: leggings, a tank top, and some vans. Maybe I should dress professional, I think to myself.

Nah.

Dr. Cho was right. I didn't feel any pain and felt like myself again. I freshen up before heading to the common area. I look at myself in the mirror and stare deeply into my eyes. I was falling for the Captain, and I was falling hard. I can't help but blush at the fact that I just accepted it.

You deserve love and to be loved.

Hopefully, I don't fuck this one up.

I grab my thigh holster and attach it to my right leg and slip my gun into place. It's just a habit that I've done for quite some time, even when I was on my LOA. I check myself out in the mirror once more and make my way towards my door. The hallway is empty, but I hear commotion coming from the kitchen. I lightly knock on the wall and everyone's faces immediately light up.

"FAYE!!"

"LC! HOW YOU DOING?"

"I thought you fucking died!"

There are so many voices yelling and I can't help but laugh. These people really care about me. They really are my family. Even though some aren't blood related to me, they're not less than family. I hug each and every one of them and eventually make my way to the Rhodey, Barton, Bucky, Wilson, and Steve, who is currently chatting with them.

"I think a formal meeting is long overdue," I say with a laugh and reach my hand out towards to Rhodey first.

"Lieutenant Commander, it's an honor," Rhodey says and I can tell he's somewhat having a fan girl moment. After all, he is meeting one of the highest officers.

"Please, call me LC or Faye. I think we should be on a first name basis after you've seen me wounded," I laugh.

"Faye, it's a pleasure to meet you. Bucky Barnes," says Bucky. I can't help but blush a little. This is Steve's best friend. I look back and forth between Steve and Bucky and laugh at the old men.

"The pleasure is all mine. It's very nice to finally meet you, Sergeant Barnes," I reply. Bucky's face lights up when I say that. Despite being captive to HYDRA, Bucky worked his ass off to earn a spot on this team. I send him a soft smile back and turn to Barton and Wilson.

"Mr. Wilson, very nice to meet you," I say giving him my hand for a handshake. What I didn't expect was for him to grab it and place a kiss on it. I can't help but blush, but I can tell Steve is uncomfortable.

"It's an honor, LC," he replies back with a flirtatious smile. I see Steve walk towards me and grabs me from behind.

"Hey, just because she's not my girl yet doesn't mean you can flirt with her like that," he says with a semi-serious face. I can't help but laugh at the notion.

Was he claiming me to be his?

Finally, I turn to Clint.

"I saved the best for last, didn't I?" I let out a huge smile. Then, I engulfed Clint into a hug. He returns the favor back and spins me around.

"I missed you! How hard was it to keep it a secret that you knew me?" I ask him. Everyone's faces  go blank and Clint and I can't help but laugh. Natasha laughs with us, being the only other person knowing my relationship with Clint. I turn to everyone and can't help but laugh even harder at the sight.

"Relax, Clint is like my older brother. He knew he couldn't tell anyone of my identity. He's known me for practically my entire life," I tell everyone. Clint was the person who saved me from my misery, quite literally. He and Nat trained me and they were in charge of training me. What they didn't expect was for me to be a higher rank than them. Sometimes, I feel like it should be opposite. But, being the brother and sister figures in my life, they told me that I worked my ass off for Lieutenant Commander.

"Hey LC, get some grub! We made pancakes!" yells Kris. I excuse myself from the group of men and grab a plate. I get a stack of pancakes and sit on the kitchen stool.

"Awww! There are tiny chocolate chips. My favorite! Thanks guys," I say to my family. Again, the fact that people remember the little things about me makes me happy. I start chomping on my pancakes and notice Steve make his way towards me. I take another bite as he sits on the stool next to me.

"How are you feeling, doll?" He asks with a smile. I can't help but stare at him completely. He's wearing sweats and a tight shirt.

God, I can never get over how strong this man is.

He notices what I was doing and leans into my ear and whispers "we're in public, doll. Just wait a little longer." I can't help but blush when he says this. I don't reply back to him. I just take another bite of my pancakes.

"Can't help myself, Cap," I say in a sultry voice and take another bite of my pancakes, making sure to elongate my mouth on the fork. I can see Steve tense up, which he then steals my fork.

"Hey! I was using that!" I exclaim. Before I know it, he cuts into my pancakes and steals a piece for himself. This fucker. "You know, there are plenty of pancakes to go around."

"Yeah, but they're not from you," he says and I can't help but giggle. "There it is."

He places his hand on my face and I instantly remember this familiar feeling.

Home.

He runs his thumb down my cheek and leans in to kiss my cheek. Someone in the back whistled at us and some were sending out cat calls.

"LC, Cap, you are in public!" someone yells.

"Oh can it Griffin. I've walked into way worse things with you back in the day," I sass him with a smile.

"OH COME ON LC YOU DIDN'T NEED TO SKETCH THAT INTO MY BRAIN!" Tony yells and pretends to go into cardiac shock.

"Whatever, Tony. You know you liked it!" I yell to him. Everyone laughs while I stand up and lean myself against Steve. How did something feel so good and so right at the same time? I separate myself from Steve and place my dish in the sink after Steve and I finished my stack.

"Well, someone's gotta do the boring work," I say with a grunt. I make my way towards the elevator to go to my office, which to my favor, Tony made on the highest floor of the tower.

I look at the city and inhale.
