Chapter Twenty Two-
Ever since that day at lunch, we had all been one edge. It had only been a couple days, maybe two weeks after, and Vic had been on edge the most out of all us. While all the guys had been watching over their girlfriends, and Jack had been watching over Alex, Vic took it up upon himself to protect me. Which in some ways made sense. I could barely fight against Oli when they beat me up. Vic had barely let me out of his sights during school, even though we had 4/6 hours together, and we didn't even sit near each other in some of them because of our teachers. Oli hadn't done anything yet, he hadn't even talked to us since that day at the lunch table.
Today, Vic was extremely on edge, but nobody would even tell me why or what was going on. Normally, he had been on edge since Oli came back, but today, he hadn't let me out of his sights, and I was curious to see what he would do when we went to separate classes after lunch, but for now, I was more worried about what was happening right now at lunch.
For the first time since I met them, Jack Barakat and Vic Fuentes were arguing. "You don't get it Jack!" Vic yelled at Barakat, who was seated next to us, Alex and me giving them confused looks the more they went on. Everyone else at the table, except Tony, Mike, and Jaime looked like they had no idea what was going on. This is what happens when I get back from getting my lunch.
Barakat glared at Vic. "Oh sure, because he's so defenseless, that gives you every right in the world, right?" He snapped, continuing to glare at my boyfriend. I had never heard of Barakat and Vic arguing, or Barakat arguing with anyone for that matter, besides the few times I heard he got in fights. He was always such a calm, joking guy! He was literally one of the nicest people I've ever met. But here he and Vic were, arguing.
"Oh yeah, and Alex can't fend for himself either!" Vic said, glaring right back at him. I looked over at Mike, who was leaning his hand against his head, obviously not fazed by what was going on right now. I looked at Austin and everyone else but Tony and Jaime, and they seemed just as confused as me and Alex. Finally, Jaime spoke up after a few more minutes of arguing.
"Vic, if your gonna argue, could you at least tell everyone why your arguing." Jaime asked him, looking at his best friend, who was still glaring at Barakat. Alex had been starring at Vic in confusion ever since he mentioned his name.
"Fine. Jack's getting on to me for being so defensive of Kellin, yet he's doing the same thing with Alex!" Austin and Jeremy looked between me and Kellin for a minute, and just like that, they had an 'epiphany' moment as my english teacher would say. After chuckling at them, I looked back at Vic and Barakat, who were still glaring at each other.
"Come on guys, you really don't have to argue over this. Everyone is being the same way their girlfriend! Even Justin's being protective over Sarah, and they're not even dating." Alex pointed out, resting his hand on Barakat's hand. Barakat looked over at Alex for a second, his eyes softening just a little, before turning back to Vic, who was clenching and unclenching his fist, trying to come himself down. I wanted to put my hand over his, but because me and him weren't public like Barakat and Alex, I couldn't.
"Fine fine. I still think that you Vic, are being more protective that you have to be." Barakat said, intertwining his and Alex's fingers, as his eyes remained on Vic. Vic sighed, shaking his head, looking at me, before turning back to Barakat.
"I'm not. Oli has it out for Kellin, he always has and that's not going to change. He may be crude to you and Alex sometimes, Jack, but he's never beaten you two up. He's beaten Kellin up, many times. And just because Kellin's now apart of our group, won't change anything. Oli has it in his head that Kellin's his victim, no matter what clique he's in. If I'm not around to protect him, god knows what's going to happen to him." Vic explained, his hand sneaking under the table and holding my own. I rubbed my thumb over his hand, trying to calm him down.
