The Unexpected (Ranboo x Reader)

Day at the Park

I woke up today feeling on cloud 9! I felt a cool breeze come through my window, sun shining bright with only a few clouds in the sky, and heard birds chirping. I smile a bit as I already have a plan for my day today and that was a picnic. I go downstairs and grab an old blanket out of the closet and put it in a bag with a bunch of snacks. I go to the fridge to see what drinks that I could bring on this picnic. But once I look in there there's nothing. God I need to go shopping soon. It's fine though as I could always just go grab something when I head out. After all of the things I need for the picnic are packed I go back up to my room to grab my phone and skateboard. When I get to my phone I see a couple of messages. One from Ranboo and one from Lane. The one from Ranboo basically reads out that he was excited to see me today and it was a perfect day for a picnic. The one from Lane was seeing if I needed anything. With that I reply that I need some drinks. She said she would bring them. It's around 10am and I'm ready to head out. I inform everyone to meet at the park and gather everything up and walk out of the door. I decided since it's so nice today I skate to the park. I never asked if ranboo knew how to but I want to see if he wanted to learn to skate. It took me 10min to get to the park and I found a great spot to put the blanket. As I'm spreading out the blanket and putting down my bag I hear running coming towards me accompanied with a loud announcement.

"Y/NNNN"

I feel a person wrap their arms around my shoulders and weight rams into me. I freak out a little and almost elbow them in the stomach but choose against it as they shouted my name. I turn around and it's Lane. I'm glad that I decided not to elbow her. Apparently she had just gotten back from the convenience store with a couple of monsters and a water bottle. I give her a small smile and show off to her my picnic set up. She laughs a little and sits down on the blanket. She stretches herself out on the blanket, looking like a starfish, and I grab all the snacks out of my bag. That's when I see Ranboo get dropped off by his parents. He's looking really good for our little picnic. I wave to him. He walks over and gives me a quick hug and throws down a box of strawberries on the blanket. He also goes to give Lane a quick hug. How did he know that strawberries were my favorite? I look over to him after he placed them down and smiled.

"Ranboo I told you that you didn't need to bring anything today. The only reason Lane brought something was because I didn't have enough drinks."

He shakes his head in dismissal.

"It's alright, I wanted to bring something and thought it was such a good day outside so strawberries were perfect!"

I give him a small laugh

"Thank you... also how did you know strawberries were my favorite?"

He quickly glanced over to Lane and looks back to me with blush on his cheeks.

"Uh no reason..."

I laugh more and just sit down on the blanket next to the starfished Lane. Today is going to go so perfect and I already can see it. We spend about 20min there just sitting and talking when I finally remember my skateboard.

"RANBOO DO YOU WANT TO SKATEBOARD?!"

His eyes widen. I think I stunned him a little with the sudden yelling. But he puts on a bright smile.

"I actually don't know how to skate but I would like to try!"

I run over and grab my skateboard that was leaning on the tree. And run off to the skate park nearby. He follows behind slowly but surely. I put the board down onto the cement and call over to Ranboo.

"Come here! Put your hands on my shoulders and try to stand on the board."

He does as I instructed and I put my hands on his shoulders as well. We stand there for a minute as Ranboo tries to balance himself on the board. He starts wobbling and almost falls off but I move my hands to his side to steady him. I let out a big laugh and he scowls at me.

"Hey I'm trying my best here. Stop teasing me."

I give him the biggest smile and he smiles back. I love Ranboos smile. It was so genuine and he seemed like he was enjoying himself. Ranboo decided he had enough practice for today so he stepped off the skateboard. But he did it in such a way that he tripped and fell into me. We fall to the ground and the skateboard goes zooming off back to where Lane was. We both lay on the ground and burst out laughing.

"I'm sorry Y/N physics was not on my side today."

With that comment I let out another loud laugh. Our cackling was loud enough that Lane had walked over to make sure we were alright. She grabbed the skateboard that had wandered off and finally made her way over to us. She leaned over us still on the ground.

"Sooooooo seems you guys had funnnnn!!!"

She gives me the smirk and I sit up and punch her shin lightly.

"Shut up..."

I fully get up to my feet and offer Ranboo my hand. He takes it and also gets up. As I hold his hand I get those tingles again. But after many occasions like this I realize that it's a good thing when I get those. I shrug it off and we walk back to our picnic place and sit down enjoying some music that I had put on my phone and the nice day. Then I hear someone behind us.

"Hey sorry to intrude but do you guys happen to be Laneybug and Ranboo?"

I turn around and so do Ranboo and Lane. I glance over to them and they continue to look to the person. She is quite tall and really pretty. Ranboo and Lane both get up and walk over to her, leaving me on the blanket. Ranboo is the first to respond to the girl.

"Yeh hi! Are you a fan of us?"

Her face lights up and she shines a pretty smile his way. He smiles back. She begins to talk again.

"Yeh huge in fact! Could I possibly take a picture with you guys!? Sorry if I'm intruding!"

She glances over to me with an indifferent look. I look back trying to smile to her. Lane responds this time to her question.

"Your not intruding at all! Heck yeah we can take a picture, this is the first time ive done this!"

Ranboo looks to me with a face if concern. I give him a smile and shoo him away to go get pictures. Of course Ranboo brought his mask and glasses with him just in case of this situation. I smile at his preparation. Him, Lane and the girl take a selfie. The girl walks over to me handing out her phone.

"Hey is it ok if you take a picture of us?"

I grab the phone warily and get up. I take a couple of pictures of them and hand the phone back to the girl. She thanks me and goes back to having a conversation with Ranboo and Lane. It had been 5 minutes until all three of them come back to the blanket where I had returned to sit. Lane grabs the girls hand and brings her over to me.

"Y/N this is Emily! She's really cool is it okay if she joined in the picnic?"

I look up to Lane and the girl I now know as Emily. I give a small nod and the rest of the group sits. I see Emily sit quite close to Ranboo and keep glancing over to him. I also watch as Ranboo carries on his conversation she smiles more and more. At this point I'm tuning out of the conversation. Why do I not like this girl. She gives me bad vibes and the way she is so close to Ranboo makes me feel weird. I keep twiddling with my fingers until I hear someone say my name.

"Y/N are you okay?"
