The Unexpected (Ranboo x Reader)

It had been a month now since me and Lane fought. I've only associated with her a couple of times since then mostly because of our friends. She seems so much happier thought. I sometimes find myself wandering onto her Instagram looking at all of the adventures her and Emily went on. I haven't been able to go on adventures like that. The reason is not enough money and distances being too far for me to travel by myself. I sit at my desk playing some Minecraft when I get a ping from discord and open it. Dream had messaged me checking in this morning. He and Wilbur had done that recently making sure I was okay as if I was their younger sister. I smile a bit and tell him that I'm okay. It usually ends there but this time I got another response. He wants me to join a vc. I tell him okay and I get dragged into one. I start talking before I even check to see who's in it with me.

"Hey Dream whatcha need me for? Don't tell me it's mooooore dating adviceeee..."

There are a couple of chuckles coming from the call along with Dreams loud wheeze. A smile appears on my face and a chuckle escapes me as I check to see who else is in the call. I go silent as I see that Lane is in here with me along with a couple others. Tommy being one of them begins to speak.

"Okay boss man I've- we all have a question to ask you and mr.boo man here"

My face filled with confusion now. What would Tommy need to ask me and why is Lane here for it?

"Yeh go ahead Tom Tom."

Another wheeze escapes Dream and only a scoff comes from Tommy but ignores my teasing.

"Ok so Lane here was telling us some stuff and we wanted to see if this was true. You and Ranboo have been close the past couple of months... we just wanna know... are you guys a thing?"

Ranboo is the first to break after a quick silence with a breathy wheeze that I love. I also begin to laugh as he begins to slam his desk. Everyone else seems quiet anticipating our response so I answer first letting Ranboo calm down.

"I don't know Toms? Are me and Boo dating? I don't know..."

Another wheeze coming from Ranboo but he calms enough to continue the joke he picked up on.

"Love, why do they think we are dating?"

I mutter a small giggle and continue. Pushing it a little farther.

"I don't know boo, were they spying on us when we kissed?"

A couple of gasps come from the vc and Ranboo lets out another laugh but it's after his shocked gasp.

"BABE WE WERENT SUPPOSED TO TELL THEM YET!!!!"

I begin to laugh again this time being the hardest I have in my life. Throughout the vc there are a bunch of "congrats" and a "pog" (mainly from tubbo). It makes me extremely happy to know my friends know but I hear nothing from Lane. Ever since I had joined she had been quiet. I don't blame her if Tommy didn't ask me the question I wouldn't have said anything. But then I hear a ding come through my phone and look at it. It's Lane texting me.

"Congrats Y/N I'm glad, you have a wonderful human. I'm sorry for everything that I've said about you and done to you. I was completely wrong. I had just believed what Emily said at that time because I was heartbroken when you left like that. I wasn't in the right head space. Ranboo sat me down in a call and explained everything. Again I'm extremely sorry you don't have to forgive me I just want you to know I regret everything."

I smile at the text. Of course I still love Lane she was my best friend. But I still was hurt by what she did and I don't think it will be the same. None the less I still want her in my life and I want to grow from this. I text her back.

"Thank you for the apology Lane. I'm still hurt by that whole fiasco and it hurts checking your Instagram and seeing you and Emily constantly doing fun things. I just want to move past this. I would like to be your friend because of our history together but it may be different than before. I'm sorry."

I send the text and put my phone back down on my desk. I tune back into the conversation that the boys are having and it makes me laugh. They are arguing about who is going where and if any of them will meet during travels. I sadly don't personally have any plans this summer but a couple of people do. Tubbo says that he is going to Paris with his family and may bring Tommy. Dream is going to see Sapnap and bring him back to move in with him. Then Ranboo says that he wants to come back to Ontario and see me. I couldn't wait to see Ranboo again. We would do so many more things since he said that he would come over for a month this time. I begin to bouncy in my chair while listening to music after leaving the discord. I had spent an hour writing down and researching cute date ideas for me and Ranboo to do. I then get a FaceTime call on my phone and it's him. I answer and spend some more time discussing my plans. We just continue talking, more talking, laughing, and joking. It mostly involved me explaining some of the history of Canada, explaining quirky things here, and telling him about our best food. As I describe all of this stuff to him he seems to also start bouncing and a smile forms on his face. Out of the blue while I'm explaining how maple syrup on a stick works he says something.

"Y/N I love you so darn much. I'm so excited to come and see you!"

He has the sweetest grin on his face when he says those words and it makes butterflies rise in my stomach. I end my explanation on maple on a stick entirely and respond to him saying that.

"Ranboo I love you too! I'm legit the happiest boy right now getting to have you here for a month. I'm sorry I couldn't travel to where you are!"

He shakes his head in dismissal and rests his head on his hand leaning towards the phone.

"I will just have to fly you down here after the month I come over. Would that be okay with your job?"

I look away for a second because he looks so cute and I feel heat rise to my face. But I calm down and check my phone. If I needed to I could move some things around and possible be able to do that. I put a grin on my face and look back to Ranboo.

"I could do that boo!"
