Chapter 6: Don't Apologize For Claiming What's Yours

MINHO'S POV

I got up earlier than usual today. As a Runner, and the Keeper of the Runners, I usually get up early but today I was excited to take Thomas training.

I also wanted to find something in case Thomas is hungover. One glass of wine didn't get me drunk but Thomas is smaller than me. I can't remember any of the plants the Gardeners told me about so I quietly open the door to the homestead. One of the Med Jacks MUST have asked for some pain killers or something.

I find a cabinet that has a few containers of pills. I look at them and finally find one for headaches. I can't pronounce the name but I shake out a few pills and I put them in a small compartment in my backpack, one that I've never had a use for before now.

Next, I head over to the Slammer. I see some of my Runners, already up and getting ready with their partners. When they wave to me I wave back. I smile thinking about how Thomas will be my partner. MY partner. MY Thomas. MINE.

Once again, I put the small, brass key into the keyhole and unlock the door. I see Thomas is still asleep and I take a moment to admire him, once again.

He looks so peaceful when he's sleeping. Peaceful and cute. I notice, he takes off his shirt and just sleeps in the white tank top we were all given as undershirts. I realize, he does have some muscles on his arms. He must be having a good dream because he smiles. Then he says something that scares the living hell out of me:

"Minho..." for a moment, I think that he's seen me and has caught me staring, then I realize; he's still dreaming. About ME. He says something else that makes my face turn red.

"You're a good kisser... hot Minho..." should I wake him? Or should I listen to his dream for a little bit longer?

"I like you and your muscles... hot Minho..." at least, that's what it sounds like. His words are slurred and difficult to understand. I have to wake him up, I can't invade his privacy like this. Yesterday, he told me that he felt the same way as me but does he know how I really feel? What do I do?

I know what I have to do. Yesterday, Thomas was brave and told me how he felt, so during our lunch break, I'm going to talk to him about it.

I unlock his cell door and walk over to him.

"Get up, Greenie, we got a full day together," I whisper and lightly shake his shoulder. He opens his eyes and blushes.

"Any good dreams?" I ask, I just couldn't resist. It makes him blush more. God, how I love this game of making him nervously blush.

"Yeah I had a really good one- I mean, uh, I don't really know?" he says and I chuckle.

"Well, let's go get you geared up," I say with a grin.

Brief Time Jump

MINHO'S POV

We had been running for a little while now, I took the lead and would look back to make sure Thomas was keeping up. Right now, my mind was distracted. I can't stop thinking about what I should say to talk to him about it. Maybe I'll get lucky and he'll bring it up. I don't know if it would be best to say, "Hey Thomas, when you said you felt the same way, do you mean you love me? Because I'm in love with you and I wanna kiss you!" Nah, I can scratch that off the list.

I look back again and see that Thomas is starting to get tired. That's when I realize, we've been running longer than I thought, and it's just about time for our lunch break. I'm out of time.

"Time for lunch, Greenie," I slow and tell him. We find a wall to sit against and I pull out 2 sandwiches and hand one to him.

"Yesterday, before Newt and Chuck's arguing interrupted you, you started to say who Newt likes. Who does he like?" Thomas asks, after swallowing a bite of sandwich.
