Oikawa Tooru, the most popular student and the captain of boys volleyball team and Y/N L/N, the manager of boys volleyball team.

They became the talk of the school since the incident with his fangirls. Given how he has a playboy-ish image, it was shocking for everyone to witness his favoritism for her. The whole school knew it very well that the captain has a special spot for the manager and vice versa. Their bonding and interactions made everyone assume them as soulmates. So, everyone was sure that they would become soulmates when her birthday comes.

And the volleyball club was not an exception. All of them wanted those two to be together. They were suited for each other. She was supportive of him and his dreams. While most of the girls got bored of these games and passions, she always had a avid interest in the game. Thus, supporting the team the most.

The team had gathered together in the canteen during lunch time. Some were complaning about some teacher who announced a surprise test while some were sleeping.

Oikawa arrived there with a piece of milk bread in his hand and sat beside Kunimi who was sleeping soundly in spite of the whole chaotic atmosphere.

He glanced at Y/N, who was sitting beside Iwaizumi and leaning over the table to look at the meme that Hanamaki had found that morning.

"Oi Shittykawa."

Iwaizumi's deep voice snapped him out of his trance and his gaze turned to his friend who was sitting across him. Iwaizumi sighed in exasperation at Oikawa's airhead antics.

"Oikawa-san!"

The way his name rolled out from her tongue gave him bubbly feeling which he hid behind his usual smile. She wore her usual bright smile, the one which appears just because of him.

"Y/N-chan! What happened you seem to be so happy today?" He watched as Iwaizumi switched places with her because he had to discuss things with others. Now, she was sitting across him.

"Eh.. Nothing special happened," She answered before taking a bite of the cookie she was holding.

"Is it so? Or because I am here?" He smirked and leaned forward propping his elbow on the table and resting his face in his palm. She blushed a little at his words but quickly shook it away.

"Maybe.. Maybe not..," She answered with a mischievous tone extending one of the oranges towards him which Kunimi gave her.

"Peel it for me. I don't like to peel oranges," He spoke with a sheepish smile. She chuckled amusedly at him, before peeling the thick peel of the citrus fruit.

The others who were watching their interactions could only smirk in response. Iwaizumi stared at them while munching over a cookie she gave him.

"You know what... By the way you two act, it will not be shocking if you two turn out to be soulmates," He spoke with a straight face. Both of them stared at him and then at each other.

"Iwaizumi-san!"

"Iwa-chan!"

Oikawa's and Y/N's faces erupted in red like tomatoes and they immediately faced away from each other. Everyone laughed at their reactions.

"For real, he is stating truth." Yahaba chimed in making their blush worsen.

"You two are literally suited for each other." Hanamaki teased.

She rested her head on the table hiding her blushing face from the team. Iwaizumi chuckled and patted her back trying to be sympathetic but instead received a glare from her.

"You don't know what the future holds, Makki," Oikawa muttered staring at the trees swaying with the wind. Everyone became quiet at his solemn words. Hidden under the desk, was her frowning face. As much as she hated to admit, he was right. They don't have to get their hopes up.

The practice had ended a little early. Just as usual, the three of them were walking home. Iwaizumi parted with them at his point. And now, it was just the two of them.

Y/N was suprsingly quiet throughout their walk. A lot of things were running in her mind. The most prominent was Iwaizumi's remark from the lunch time. Over the past few months, she has grown fond of the brunette. But what if they weren't destined to be together? Was it fair of her to have such emotions for him? Was it wrong for her to have some hope? Even a tiny drop of hope?

"What Iwa-chan said this afternoon..." Oikawa started. His gaze casted down on the gravely path. Y/N looked up at him hoping for him to continue. But he whispered the rest of the sentence, not wanting it to reach her ears.

"What happened, Oikawa-san?"

"Oh no nothing... I was just talking to myself." He chuckled nervously. Getting lost in the conversation, they didn't know when they reached her house. She walked to the doorstep while he stood there outside.

"Okay.. See you tomorrow, Oikawa-san." Her voice was soft and low.

"See you tomorrow, Y/N-chan." He sent her a small wave which she returned. His lips turned into a thin line as he looked up at the dusk sky. He sighed and walked towards his home.

Y/N flopped on her bed after changing into comfortable clothes. She let out a tired sigh and sprawled over the bed like a starfish. Oikawa's words from before, which she heard even though he didn't want to, rang through her mind.

"I hope you will be my soulmate..."

She buried her blushing face in her pillow. She wanted to be optimistic till the moment she gets her mark that night.

"I hope so too Oikawa-san."
