[oikawa]: can we meet at the park? i want to tell you something.

She stared at his text. She would be lying if she said that her heart wasn't fluttering at his text. With a quick tap, the keyboard appeared. Her fingers hovered over the alphabets.

"Go to him," Ryu spoke out from behind her which startled her. She turned to see him leaning towards her while peeking over her shoulders to see the text. He wore his usual soft smile. They were on their date when she received Oikawa's text.

"A-ah it's okay. I'll tell him that I am busy. He'll understand," She frantically answered before turning back to her phone. She had just typed a single character when her phone was snatched out of her hands. Ryu kept the phone in his pocket not giving her any chance to refuse.

"Y/N, just go to him." He pestered.

"But I can't. You are here. Why should I leave you?" She reasoned him trying to get her phone back. He sighed at her question.

"Because you are an idiot. Ever tried to hear what you are saying?" He grabbed her shoulders and look straight in her eyes. She immediately shut up.

"Yes, I am your soulmate and you think that spending time with me is more important... I refuse. Y/N, why are you being so difficult for yourself?"

"What do you mean?" She didn't know why he was acting this way. It was out of blue for him to act in such way.

"You know what I mean. I am stupid but not so much that I cannot notice your feelings. We have known each other for some months but in those months, I can tell very well what you are thinking and feeling." She flinched at his words and stood there with her head down.

"Ever noticed yourself? You said you don't love him but you still wear the scarf he gave everyday, you said that you don't love him but your gaze was always fixed on him, you said that you don't love him but your eyes always searched for him...... So, now tell me..... After all this how can you still say that you don't love him," He spoke out. She looked down at her scarf. He was speaking truth that she wore that scarf everyday. She fumbled with its tasseled end.

"Y/N.... Just ask your heart.. Forget that you have a soulmate." His voice was gentle and soft as ever. His grip on her shoulders loosened. She took her time to just think about the time she spent with Oikawa. She told herself not to feel anything for him but still she couldn't help but let her heart flutter at the sight of him. She never knew that giving up was so hard.

"R-Ryu... What should I do?.. I... I love him.. So much."

Her eyes were clenched shut and the tears were streaming on her face like waterfalls. His gaze softened and he spoke with the softest voice he could muster.

"Then, what is stopping you from going to him? The fact that he's not your soulmate? It's that, right? Then, listen carefully. I am freeing you from this boundation. Why do the world's opinion matters when I, myself, am allowing to you to follow your heart?" Her glossy eyes widened at his words. She stared at him in shock. Was he insane? Because no sane man would let go of his soulmate.

"Just what are you saying?"

"Go to him. Go to the man your heart wants not the man bounded to you by marks." He pointed at her heart and all she could do was stare at him.

"W-Why are you?" She still couldn't understand how can someone be so much selfless.

"Your smile is the brightest when you are with him.... Y/N, you are the best person I have ever met. And you deserve every ounce of happiness...... I know it very well that I won't be able to give you the happiness which he can. And I told you before that smile suits you the best." She recalled the moment when he complimented her for her smile. However, her lips turned into a pessimistic frown.

"But the confession can be about something else. Why should I get my hopes up?"

He let out a loud laugh while clutching her stomach leaving her standing in confusion. She smacked him on his arm for thinking of the situation as something funny. Soon, his laughter died down and he recollected himself before sighing.

"Just how much dense can you be?"

It took only one statement to open her eyes. She had always been observant and level-headed for everyone but now, she felt completely stupid for not realizing what Ryu meant. She had never took notice of Oikawa's gestures and actions. His genuine smile, laughs and compliments for her. She had always taken them for his flirty nature but never had she thought of them as genuine.

Ryu's eyes widened as she hugged him. Her face was buried in her chest. He hesitated before hugging her back. He rested his chin on her head.

"Ryu..... Can we still be friends?" Her voice was muffled against his body. He could feel the vibrations erupting from her speaking. He pulled away and patted her head.

"Best friends." She smiled at him. That moment he saw the most genuine and the brightest smile of her. He flashed a wide grin before ruffling her hair.

"You know.. We are on the same boat.. Y/N." She was totally confused before letting his words seep into her mind making her eyes widen.

"Who are they?" He chuckled. She could tell he was faking his smile that time.

"One of my classmate."

"Don't worry. You are the best person I have ever met. And you deserve every ounce of happiness. So, I know you'll get them," She re-quoted his words from before and flashed a thumps up to him making him laugh freely.

He brought out her phone and handed it to her. She noticed that Oikawa's chat was already open with the cursor blinking, ready to type a text.

"Now Y/N, go get your man."

She smiled and hugged for a last time before running off to the park where Oikawa was waiting for her. She felt like a free bird. Freed from its cage and now, could fly to the place where she wanted to.
