Finally, it was the day of rematch of the Great King and the King of the Court, a battle to reach to the nationals.
Y/N's eyes caught her soulmate's. He excitedly waved at her. She chuckled at his goofy self and waved back. Next to him, were three girls who seemed to be Oikawa's fans, based on their squeals. Ryu sweatdropped and took a step aside from them.
As usual, the team huddled together before stepping onto the court. Oikawa's goofy nature turned into a serious and intimidating one, one she was too familiar with. He turned to speak to the team.
"I believe-"
" We believe in you , Captain! "
His team's words shocked him. Y/N chuckled at his expression and soon, had a soft smile on her face. She believed him as always.
The whistle blew and the match started.

Aoba Johsai | Karasuno 24 | 23
Hinata jumped and managed to block him. In the blink of an eye, Karasuno tied 24-24. Karasuno's #2, Mr. Refreshing as Oikawa called him, served again and Iwaizumi received it.
Oikawa remarked that despite having an optimistic and kind personality, Sugawara's serves were extremely annoying.
Following Sugawara's save, Karasuno then performed a syncronized attack. Hinata called for the ball, but Kageyama actually performed a setter dump, shocking everyone. Oikawa ran towards the ball, but didn't make it in time, and it scored. Karasuno now has match point 25-24. Aoba Johsai called for a time-out.
The time-out ended and the players returned to the court. Sugawara served for a 3rd time. The ball went to the front and Iwaizumi received it. Oikawa sent the ball to Kyōtani who attempted a cut shot but Karasuno's #5 managed to save it. With the ball up, Sugawara and Kageyama switched positions. Sugawara sets to the Ace. He spiked past a double block but Hanamaki managed to save it. The ball was heading out of the court but Oikawa chased after it. Y/N had her hands clasped together, lips chanting prayers to let them win.
Hinata and Tanaka called "chance ball" but Oikawa actually signalled to Iwaizumi. From outside the court, Oikawa sent the ball toward Iwaizumi, stunning everyone. He crashed into side chairs, but hurried back onto the sides. Y/N felt her heart leeping out of the chest. She fliched as he collided. As Iwaizumi spiked, Karasuno's captain was able to receive but the ball headed backwards.
After getting a running distance, Y/N noticed Hinata charging forward while calling for the ball. Her eyes caught the glimpse of the serious gaze of Oikawa. It gave her chills. Kyōtani, Iwaizumi and Kindaichi all jumped to block Hinata as Kageyama sent him the ball. He spiked the ball against Kindaichi's hand. Oikawa immediately reacted to it, however, the ball bounced off his arms and touched the floor out of the court.
The whistle blew twice. The match ended. Karasuno scored 26-24 and won the match.
Y/N eyes watered as she saw her teammates, who were staring down at the ground. How much had they practiced. How much time had the thrid years given to the sport instead of studies. Her heart was sinking with every thought.
She saw Iwaizumi. His eyes were slightly watered. And she could tell that he was blaming himself for not scoring from the set. And finally, after checking on every member, she turned to him.
Oikawa's lips were pressed in a thin line. No tinge of any emotion on his face. He silently walked to the bleachers along with his team to thank the cheering squad. What made the situation even worse was that Yui was there to watch his last match. The only match that she watched. The one where he lost.
The team made its way to the bus with frowning faces. She stood at the door of the bus waiting for the Captain to return. And he did. She wanted to speak to him. She wanted to say something. She couldn't bear the look on his face. It doesnt suit him. At the end, she mustered some couragea and his name rolled off her tongue.
"Oikawa-san."
Her voice made him look up at her. He was shocked. That was the first time she spoke to him after the match started. Unbeknownst to him, his shoulders relaxed and he felt at ease.
"Yes, Y/N-chan?"
She nudged his arm before softly patting it.
"You did great, Captain. I am proud of you. Oikawa-san."
That's all he needed to hear. His lips etched into a smile. A genuine one at that. He patted her hair before ushering her to enter the bus.
"Thank you, Y/N."
