Her eyes widened in shock and her heart sank. Ushijima spiked the ball right through the three-man block. The whistle blew twice ending the match. The whole stadium echoed with the cheers of Shiratorizawa.

Set 2
Shiratorizawa | Aoba Johsai
25         |        23

There wasn't a significant difference. Just three points.

Y/N watched with teary eyes as the team returned. Their gazes fixed on the ground. Upset. Crestfallen. Losing to the same team again added to their disappointment.

She glanced at the captain who was the most heart broken. His lips were turned into a thin line as he quietly muttered a thanks to the cheering team.

All of their practices, experiences and strategies were broken by brute force.

"Guys."

Her small voice caught their attention. With a smile, she stepped towards them.

"There is no need to get upset now. What is done is done. You can't reverse the time. Let the past be in past. You did all you could, with all your might. I am proud of you."

Her words lifted their spirits a bit. Oikawa hummed gaining their attention.

"We still have one chance left to do wonders. Spring High. Let's grab the victory then!"

The team's mood lighten up and they grinned at their captain. The coaches chuckled at their optimism while Y/N smiled secretly.

"Oh God you guys.." She groaned in annoyance as the team once again ruffled her hair especially Kindaichi who made look like a bird's nest. Oikawa laughed from the back as she petted her hair.

"Thank you Y/N-chan." He lifted his fist and she bumped hers in the fist bump.

"Mention not, Captain." She grinned as they walked out of the gymnasium with the team waiting for them to turn up.

The sky was painted in dark, adorned with twinkling stars. The town lit up as the street lights turned on illuminating the streets.

Y/N was returning from errands. A packet of groceries was in her hand. She hummed a tune as she looked up at the night sky. She could hear the laughter of children playing in their backyards.

She came across the neighborhood park and stopped in her tracks when she saw someone sitting on a bench. The street light accentuated his brown hair as he rested his face in his hands.

Oikawa heard the sound of steps but didn't bother to look up thinking they weren't someone important. He didn't bother to look up as they sat beside him on the bench.

"Oikawa-san."

Her soft voice then made him look up. It made him feel tingly and warm for some reason.

"Y/N-chan... What are you doing here?," He asked. A quivering whisper, drained of energy. He was tired, from the matches that day and from the late practice.

"Ladies first, so answer my question now..," She replied with a sly smile. He chuckled and sat upright, remembering their arguement in the library.

"Last time, I answered first. Now, it's your turn, Y/N-chan." His mood was lifted up. Talking to her was refreshing for him. She chuckled while caressing her forearm.

"Out for groceries." She pointed at the purple bag which she kept near her on the bench. He hummed in acknowledgment.

"You were practicing, right?," She asked in a stern voice. His calloused hands gave it away. He was definitely practicing his serves, like he always did. He nervously laughed at her question.

"Hehe Y/N-chan..." He immediately stopped when he noticed her stern expression. His head hung down and he sighed in defeat. She shook her head and an exasperated sigh left her.

"Please, don't overexert yourself, Oikawa-san. I already told you this."

"But Y/N-chan, I want my team to defeat Shiratorizawa. I want to take my team to the nationals. Why is it getting so difficult? Why can't we win? It's too much. I know that Tobio will surpass me, he definitely will. This is the last chance for me defeat them. I can't let go of this chance. "

Her lips turned into frown as she heard his shaky and brittle voice. She knew he was insecure of his skills. He always practiced till late nights to polish his serves and sets. He has always accepted the fact that he could never surpass Kageyama, who has natural talent. Yet he never backed down from working hard.

Oikawa's eyes widened as he felt her arms wrapping around his neck. Her head rested above his, eyes closed in serenity. Heartbeat increased. He smiled before hugging her back.

Her lips formed a smile when she felt him nuzzling his head in her stomach. Both of them enjoyed the warmth and comfort. The buzzing of cicadas brought out a calming melody.

"You know Oikawa-san.... Hugging someone makes you happier because of Oxytocin chemical." He could feel her stomach vibrating as she spoke.

"What a nerd, Y/N-chan." He chuckled.

"Says the one in college prep class."

Both of them erupted into fits of laughter in the quiet park. He sighed in content and tighten his hold around waist. Her fingers found themselves caressing his soft and fluffy hair.

"Thank you Y/N-chan."

It was one of those moments where she would feel her heart beat speeding up. Where he would wish for the time to stop. Where they could feel warmth stirring inside their hearts.

Their hearts tighten at the intensity of feelings that were brewing inside them.
