Chapter One Hundred And Fifty-Seven: Mended Bridges
Life for Lina and Cedric over time settled into a routine for the couple. Cedric was still working for the order but was now posted up at the school along with Tonks for added protection and Lina was now working full time at St mungos, under the mentorship of Sam, looking more stressed than she ever had before (Danny's words) and feeling more tired than she realised was humanly possible.
But while high stress and lack of sleep were a part of her new job she still loved the work she was doing, she loved being able to help people especially during a time when people needed help more than ever before.
Her days were filled with trying to save children who had either been cursed by death eaters with dark magic or attacked by greyback, both as a warning to their parents. those days when she lost a child were the hardest, those were the days she wished Cedric wasn't at Hogwarts or that Lucy was still coming round to the flat, and the days she lost a child that had been attacked by Greyback were even harder, all she wanted to do then was talk to Remus but that was impossible as he was on a mission for the order to integrate himself into an underground werewolf community to try and convince them to join Dumbledore's side in the war. Subsciousnley, no one had heard from him in months.
Lina looked away from the falling orange leaves of the trees outside the hospital and took a sip of her cup of tea, she was drinking while on her five-minute break, she pulled the letter she had received that morning (having no time to read it when it arrived) out of her pocket and unfolded it, Ron's familiar slanty writing greeting her when she did.
Lee,
I made it onto the quidditch team! Can you believe it? I got the keeper position again, it was between me and this bloke McLaggen, he was alright but I was much better. Oh, you'll never believe this but Snape's the new Defence Against the Dark Arts professor, I have no idea how he managed that but he's already making all our lives a living hell. But at least the position is cursed and he'll be gone by the end of the year.
Harry's alright too, in case you were wondering, he asked about you the other day actually wanted to make sure you were alright. Ginny says hi too.
I'll write to tell you how the first quidditch match goes.
Ron."Black!"
Lina looked up from the letter, at the entrance to the hospital café, Colin, who Lina and Sam worked with and who was also both their bosses, stood with a look of urgency upon his ageing face. Lina had been working with him and Sam long enough to expertly read their facial expressions.
Lina folded up Ron's letter putting it back in her pocket before rushing over to the older healer. "What's wrong?"
"We've just had a patient arrive....straight from Hogwarts" he added cautiously knowing Lina still had people there she cared about.
Lina took a sharp intake of breath but apart from that, she kept her composure. She was in the profession of keeping people alive she no longer had the luxury of freaking out or losing her cool.
