Lina was completely shattered, she had barely slept due to an unexpected nightmare that revolved around the night of the Quidditch World Cup only this time a dead Cedric had appeared.
The dream had rattled Lina but it did make her determined to ask Cedric out to the Yale Ball and for that she would need Lucy. That was why on a Sunday morning Lucy and Lina were tucked away in the corner of the library discussing ideas.
"All these elaborate ideas are great Luce but why don't I just ask him without all of that?" Lina said.
"Well if you want to be boring" Lucy replied, "why wait let's go find him now."
"Now?" Lina asked her eyes popping.
"Why not, if you don't do it now you'll never do it" Lucy got up from her chair and dragged Lina up.
They headed out of the library and was going in the direction of the common room when Lina heard giggling and Cedric's name being mentioned. Lina stopped, Why was someone talking about Cedric. Lina dragged Lucy towards the voice and the pair hid behind a pillar.
"What are you-"
Lina shushed Lucy "listen."
"I just can't believe it" a girl giggled.
"I know" another girl replied, this voice Lina recognised as Cho Chang.
"What are you going to wear?"
"Oh, I don't know! I'll have to ask Cedric what he's wearing" Cho said.
"Why is she talking about Cedric?" Lucy asked.
"I still can't believe you're going to the ball with Cedric Diggory!" The girls giggled and whatever they said next Lina didn't hear.
"What?" Lina whispered stepping back "Cedric's going with Cho? Why didn't he tell me?"
"Maybe it isn't true," Lucy said, "come on let's go find Cedric himself and ask him, get it straight from the horse's mouth."
"Yeah." They sped out of there hiding spot and walked quickly to the common room. Cedric and Danny were chatting at their little table at the back, Egg was curled up in front of Cedric, and Demeter was at his feet.
"Are you going to the Yule Ball with Cho Chang?" Lucy asked slamming her hands on the table, the bang startled Egg and the dragon woke with a start attempting to breathe fire over Lucy.
Cedric was startled by the question and looked guilty at Lina who was stood timidly behind Lucy "yeah" he said.
"Oh," Lina said, she was sure she could hear her heartbreaking.
"You asked her!" Lucy said.
Danny started laughing "you should have seen it, it was hilarious."
