Overprotective Brothers Part 1

A/N so this one's actually based on Failsafe except that Dick is younger than his brothers. Wally stil. knows Dick's identity. Also in this chapter the training exercise happens 3 days before the anniversary of Dick's parent's deaths.

---------half an hour after the end of the exercise-------

Robin didn't want to leave his room. After the  exercise he had run as fast he could without talking to anyone to his room and hadn't left since.He knew that he couldn't stay there forever but he was afraid of what his friends thought about him. He had knowingly led them all to their deaths and that's what they would see this as. They wouldn't understand the sacrifices needed to save the world.Yes he had sacrificed them, but he had sacrificed himself as well. It wasn't easy,in fact Robin had hated every second of it but it was necessary. And he knew that Batman would have done the same. If Batman thought that Robin had done something wrong he wouldn't have let him run to his room at Mount Justice.

Now it was time to face his friends. This wasn't going to be easy.And he was right...

When he entered the room he they were all in 5 glares were sent his way, the fiercest belonging to a certain speedster.Apparently it wasn't enough for Artemis cause the moment he entered the room she started yelling at him:
"How could you do that! We trusted you, and all you did was kill every single one of us. I can't believe that someone can be so heartless. You didn't even care did you?"

From the looks of the other members, he could see they thought the same as well. Those words hurt Robin
more than Artemis wanted them to. How could they think he didn't care,of course he did. Did they really think he had led them to their deaths just for the sake of killing them! How could they think that?

While Robin was thinking he hadn't noticed everyone still staring at him and that caused Wally to blow up.

"You're not even going to say sorry. I can't believe you. I thought we were best friends.I thought I knew you. You didn't even flinch when Batman and the whole League died. While all of us were sad when Artemis died, you just looked out the window. You didn't even care. You just care about the mission just like Batman. Oh and congrats,you're just like him. No heart,no soul just the mission.You sent all of us to our deaths,just like your parents.!"

The Team was surprised that Robin had killed his parents,but that made him all the more guilty and they didn't even see the silent tears that staryed to make its way down his face.

That last comment was the last straw for his brothers. None of the team,not even Robin (he was too busy comprehending what his so called friends were saying to him) had noticed Red Hood,Red Robin and Darkwing enter Mount Justice. Batman had told them about the exercise and they had come to chech up on their baby brother but they had decided to watch from the sidelines and listen to what they were talking about. When Artemis started yelling at Robin,it took all of their willpower to not go there and kill her for saying those things.

But when Wally started yelling, they finally had enough,and that last comment caused all of them to blow up.In one swift moment Darkwing was there holding Wally from his collar and giving him the scariest   batglare while Red Robin picked Robin up and sent him back to the batcave.

For a moment the team looked like they were going to fight but Red Hood sent them a glare so menacing that they all stopped whatever they were going to do and looked up at him. Then Red Hood started talking in a surprisingly calm voice.

"You dare accuse Robin of being heartless,of leading you to your deaths. First of all Artemis you weren't even there when Robin made the choice to save the world so don't you ever think about yelling at my little brother about how heartless he his because I will personally make sure your life ends with as much pain as possible. You think Robin didn't care, well if he didn't care why did he give you his rebreather when the Reds attacked? Why didn't he tell anyone about your heritage even though he knew? I can keep going like this but let's see what you've done for him. Oh yeah NOTHING. You think you were wrong to trust him, but I think he was wrong to trust you. Secondly I don't see anyone accussing Aqualad here about sacrificing himself and thus leaving the team without a leader. Or M'gann for actually turning this stupid exercise to real life. No,everyone kust accuses Robin,why not he's Batman's protegee,he doesn't feel anything,he doesn't care about anything except the mission,right.So why not put all the blame on him for saving the whole world?
You can't seriously be thinking this but seeing as you're all a bunch of idiots, you probably do think like this. If you're really going to be such crybabies for sacrificing yourself for the world than stop being a hero cause you're not fit to be one.You all knew the risks of this and so did Robin,and you might not notice this but he sacrficed himself just as much as you. The only one left was M'gann in the end. Yet you still blame him. Robin knew you wouldn't sacrifice yourselves for the world,that's why he didn't say anything. But you still yell at him just because he was the one in charge. What would you have done,had you been in charge? Let me tell you, you would've broken down and let humanity die.
Robin is stronger than all of you,but you don't see thag he is still 13. And Wally,how could you say that to him! You know perfectly well that his parents were murdered in front of him when he was 9. And yet you accused him of killing them. It took us 4 years to make him understand that it wasn't his fault and even now he still thinks it is. And now thanks to you he believes it more. What would you have done Wally, watching your parents fall more than 30 feet down to the ground just because some low life criminal wanted money.Did you know that Batman didn't let him tell his identity to you. Robin begged him for a year telling him how trustworthy you were,how no matter what you would be by his side. Well he was wrong wasn't he? You're the worst best friend he could ever have. Even the Joker would treat him better.

You know, you're all sorry excuses for a bunch of superheroes.
But for a bunch of friends, well I'll just say this: You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Before they left Darkwing glared at them and said:
"If you ever so much as raise your voice at Robin ever again,you will have the whole Batclan after you and know this, we will hunt you down and cause you 10 times more the pain you caused Robin, but don't worry,you'll be alive,just barely.

With that said they all left theough the zeta's.

There was a long silence after that.The team were so ashamed of what they had done and what they had said. It was true,Robin was there for them all the time,but they had turned on him the first chance they had. And his parents being murdered when he was 9?How could someone still smile and joke after that?

Artemis especially felt bad. She had yelled at  him over and over again about how he didn't care but of course he did. She felt like the worst person ever but Wally,he couldn't believe himself. He had seen what that last  comment had meant to Dick and regretted it the moment he said it but the damage was done.And after Jason's talk,he knew how bad he had messed up. And he knew he had to make it up to his best friend.But how could one say sorry after all that?

The Team had never been more ashamed of themselves than today. They had all forgotten Robin had feelings too and that he was just a kid. Just because they were angry at him...

Whilst they were thinking about their actions Batman entered Mount Justice with the other bats behind him. But something was wrong. He was holding a very bruised and battered; a very still Robin in his arms...
