The Secret's Magic

Kabanata 20

Mula sa TV ay sabay kaming napatingin sa bag ko. My phone rang inside my bag so I have to stand up from the hug we both are sharing.

Almario and I decided to kill our time inside his room before we go back sa Batac. Gusto sana ni Tito Mario na here na kami magpa lipas ng gabi but I don't have my uniform with me and one more thing, 7:30 ng first class ko tomorrow.

"Who's that?" He asked me habang hinahalungkat ko 'yung bag ko for my phone.

I shrug my shoulders because I don't have any idea as well. 

But then, my smiled faded when I saw who's calling.

Mama Calling...

I turned pale all of a sudden. Of all time, bakit siya ngaton tumawag? My anxiety quickly over come my strength and peace of mind. 

"Baby? Okay ka lang ba? Sino 'yan?" 

I swiftly change my mood to a lighter one and look at him. Ayokong mag-isip siya ng hindi maganda.

"A friend from Manila," I confidently said before giving him an assuring smile. "Uhmm, pwede ko bang gamitin 'yung veranda mo? I'll just talk to her."

He then swift his weight, facing me fully. I know that he's trying his best not to frown, but I can clearly notice how he's preventing his eyebrows to meet.

Patuloy sa pag tunog ang phone ko. It died for a couple of seconds, but tumunog lang ulit ito agad. 

From my face, he averted his gaze to my phone on my hand and look at me again. 

Thankfully, he nod his head at smiled. "Sure baby."

"Thank you. Be back quick."

Hindi ko na siya inantay sumagot dahil naglakad na ako ng mabilis papunta sa veranda. It has a glass door kaya naisara ko ityo agad to prevent him from hearing my conversation with my mother.

At this point of time, I'm too afraid of him knowing my secret. I'm certain that he'll know this eventually, baka nga ako pa ang umamin sa kanya. But I want to cherish this feeling of love too.

No secrets can be forever stay as a secret, I know. And I'm ready about the consequences of my actions.

"Ma." I firmly acknowledge my mother as soon as I accepted the call.

My voice voids all the emotions I have.

"What took you so long to pick up the phone, Calla Amorett?"

I gulp silently. Mana nga ako sayo. The only thing that differs us from each other is how we value people.
