"Where the heck were you yesterday?!" says Alice, hands on her hips as Torrey strolls into their first period classroom.
"I was...uh...doing secretary stuff," says Torrey. It wasn't a complete lie, but a spa day with Hisako hardly counted as work. Soma, who arrived at the dorm late last night after a grueling day serving Erina, had seen Torrey, Yuki, and Hisako gaming on the couch and proceeded to voice his opinion about their difference in workload.
"Hmph. I hate to admit it, but I give Erina props for stealing you away like that. I should have made you my secretary ages ago..." says Alice, assuming that Torrey had actually spent the day at Erina's beck and call.
"What about Ryo? He seems like a pretty good secretary to me," says Torrey. Ryo, sitting on the other side of Alice, gave no indication that he heard this. He'd finally learned to tune out their conversations, unless he wanted some verbal abuse from Alice.
"Yeah, but..." says Alice, leaning in closer to Torrey for a whisper. Her lips nearly brushed his ear. "I need someone a little more...you know?"
"I don't, actually."
"Ugh, don't make me say it. ATTRACTIVE!" says Alice, raising her voice only for the last word.
"Ah. Well, being attracted to your secretary might invite a whole new set of problems. Plus, you'd be asking for a scandal."
"Scandal? It's not like I'm a married woman!"
"Oh yeah, huh? I was thinking of a certain president, but I guess that would be a pretty different situation."
"Hey, you might be onto something! When I become president, you could be my secretary/lover/trophy husband!"
"This sounds like a pretty unrealistic fantasy."
"Fine, I'll remove myself from the ballots and settle for taking you as a trophy husband."
"Do I get a say in this?"
"Nope," says Alice, with a grin.
Although he'd been joking, Torrey couldn't help actually thinking about marriage. The thought made him uncomfortable.
Marriage? I can't even bring myself to finally organize 'The Shokugeki', he thinks. I keep wondering if it will make things more awkward with everyone. Or...is it possible that having 'The Shokugeki' would put an end to all the tension? Maybe I've been putting everyone in an uncomfortable situation by stalling...
"Torrey-kins?"
"Huh? Uh...what is it, Alice?"
"You tell me. You suddenly looked so worried. Were you thinking about what it would be like to...to be with me?"
"Yeah...wait, no! I didn't mean it like that! I was just feeling bad that...never mind, it's nothing."
"Hmm. If you say so," says Alice, narrowing her eyes ever so slightly.
Thankfully, the instructor finally walked into the classroom at this moment. Her sunglasses were still on, and she made no indication that she planned to remove them. She also wore a large sunhat that almost managed to hide her tangled mess of knotted black hair.
"Class..." she started, before slumping into her chair. "BLURGH...uh, for today's lesson...no, nevermind. There won't be a lesson today. Instead...a test! That's right, a test..."
