"The rules for Spoons are quite simple. The dealer passes four cards to each player, leaving the rest of the cards in a pile to her right. To begin the game, the dealer draws one additional card from that pile and adds it to her hand, then she discards a card to the left where the next player will pick it up, and so on. The goal is to obtain four of a kind. Once you do, you may grab one of the spoons from the center of the table. At this point, everyone else will attempt to grab a spoon, and since there is one less spoon than the number of players, someone will be left out. That player receives a letter from the word 'spoons', and any player that receives all six letters will be eliminated from the game. Additionally, if a player touches a spoon when no one has four of a kind, the round will end and anyone touching a spoon will also receive a letter. Questions?" said Kirari, glancing around the table at the other five players.
"How do the teams factor into the game? It appears to be an individual game, so will it be that the last player remaining wins the wager for her school?" replied Erina, meeting Kirari's gaze in a clash of violet versus blue.
"If you find that agreeable, of course. If the last player remaining is a Totsuki student, then I will donate the sum I mentioned earlier to your school and will rescind my complaints against the staff members of this hall. If the last player remaining is a Hyakkou student, then Torrey and Hisako will transfer to MY school and be provided a life plan, and I will assume control of Totsuki," said Kirari, with a cold smile. She didn't seem worried in the slightest.
"I object," said Yumeko Jabami, frowning. Everyone turned to face her.
"Sigh...I had a feeling that you might," said Kirari, shrugging.
"I'm risking nothing! And neither is Sayaka. This sounds like a terribly boring gamble. In fact, I don't know if I can call it a gamble at all," said Yumeko, stubbornly turning away from Kirari.
"Are you mad? You should be grateful at the chance to even share a table with the President!" said Sayaka, ever the dutiful servant.
"Now, now, Sayaka. I understand what Yumeko means; we're kindred spirits, after all. I suppose it was unfair of me to take on all the risk for this wager. Yumeko, what would you propose instead?" said Kirari.
"Hmm...how about if Totsuki wins, then they get to write me a life plan, too? And if Hyakkou wins, then I get to write Torrey-san's life plan!" said Yumeko, clapping in delight.
"What the hell?!" said Torrey.
"Agreed," said Erina, after thinking carefully for a moment.
"I repeat- what the hell?!" said Torrey.
"I'm with you, Kohai. I don't like the sound of this," said Rindo, who stood next to Mary at the head of the table to keep watch for foul play. "As it is, this is seriously cutting into our date night."
"Yumeko, why do you even want to write Torrey a life plan? You just met the guy like an hour ago," said Mary. "Oh my god, it's because of that story he told us, isn't it? Ugh, you're so predictable."
"To think, that he'd barely transferred here before risking everything on a gamble like that...it makes my heart race just thinking about it!" said Yumeko, who had the crazy eyes going again.
"Heh?" said Torrey.
"She's what you call a 'Kakkegurui'; in other words, a compulsive gambler. I think she feels drawn to you because of your own history of gambling," said Mary, shaking her head in disgust.
