I was actually outside, I really was and I couldn't believe it. The only bad thing about it is Paris and Caroline are watching me like hawks. Like I would try to get away, they would only catch me before I could do anything. I guess I could try to give them the slip but where would that put me? Extremely far away from home with exactly no idea of where I am. So why bother, I might as well just enjoy the tiny amount of sun that was peaking through the clouds and the cafe's chocolate chip muffin that lay whole on the plate in front of me.
I reached for it but it was pulled from my reach.
You've got to be kidding me...
Paris shook her finger in my direction like I was a misbehaving child. "If you want to fit into your wedding dress you have to start cutting down on the carbs."
"I'm happy with my weight, I don't care if I put on a kilo here and there."
"Well I do," she informed. "From now on I am going to get a trainer for you. They can help with your weight."
"I don't need a trainer." I went to reach for the muffin again but it just missed my finger tips. "My weight is fine, my m..." I stopped and frowned. "my mother told me..."
"Well, she must not care for your health as much as I do."
I want to slap her.
"Mother, I think it's alright if she has one muffin. It's not like Hayley's going to swell into a balloon," Caroline said taking the plate and handing it to me. "It can be her last one."
I grinned like a little girl and thanked Caroline. Before Paris could do much more I had basically inhaled the soft, gooey goodness leaving only crumbs. Paris frowned at me but ignored it. "So, today I was thinking we would go searching for the flowers and cake. Leave the rest spread over the rest of the week. This will include the engagement ball and the wedding, so we can get both done in one day."
"What?" I cried out almost choking on my mouthful. "I thought we would get this over and done with in one day--that's what Caroline told me?"
Paris laughed and her daughter looked embarrassed beside her. "Oh no, dear. It's going to take a lot more than one day. I'm not that fast."
I glared at Caroline. I really hate her right now. Can't somebody on the street recognise me and drag me away from these crazy freaks. At least distract me from all this.
The two of them blabbered on and on about all different colours and styles, nearly all of it I didn't understand. It was like listening to two foreigners having a conversation; in one ear and out the other. For about an hour I zoned out drinking my coffee and picking at the crumbs left from my muffin. This was another reason why I didn't want to get married. It's all fake.
"What do you think, Hayley?"
I sat up straight and sighed. "Isn't this all a bit too...white?"
"I thought you would like it traditional, being human and all. I always loved the human weddings, they can always take me by surprise." Paris placed a hand on her chest. "I have always wanted a big, white wedding surrounded by all the people I love."
"Well...it sounds nice but I don't think it's me."
"What would you like then?" Caroline asked with warning eyes.
My shoulders sagged in defeat and I sat further back into my seat. "Whites fine."
"Good," Paris smiled proudly. "I was thinking white roses and maybe some Lillies as well. I know you see Lillies at funerals but I have always love them and believe they will compliment well. Oh, and I think there should be a mix of pink and white roses on each of the tables. The wedding should be outside, on the grounds, so we should get a flower decorative arch that the bride and grood will stand by."
