My eyes were almost glued shut, that's how much sleep was in them. I rubbed my eyes and let out a cry of pain. My eyes snapped open--even with the sleep--to look at my hand. A thick cast wrapped around my hand to my elbow restricted the movement of my wrist. I almost completely forgot about what happened to me.

Richard attacked me. That bastard.

My head throbbed and a bandage was tied around my head. A memory flashed of me sliding along the floor, crashing into all the furniture. My head throbbed, my back ached. I was so confused at all the commotion but then i saw the King. His eyes blazing red and his fangs bared at me.

I cringed at the memory and focused on my surroundings. It was Vincent's room. What am I doing in Vincent's room? What would he take me to his room?

I just remember him picking me up in his arms...him shouting at someone...telling me not to go to sleep...

I tried to keep my eyes open, i swear i did but i just couldn't keep them open any longer.

Then it flashed back. He placed me on the bed and kept shouting at Richard. The fight was vicious but I couldn't focus onn their words, it was like a blur. Vincent was looking down at me...he saved me...i forgave him, for abandoning me after this kiss, for all the pain he conflicted, for all the problems and the kidnapping. I forgive him. I really do...

I sat up slowly but the room swayed and i fell back against the pillows.

"Hey, hey, take it easy."

A hand touched my arm but then pulled away. I turned my head and the first thing i saw was Vincent. His eyes looked hollow and his irises were red instead of their usual brown. Dark shadows surrounded his eyes. Why was he sleep deprived?

"How long have I been out?" i asked trying to sit up again. Vincent dashed to my side and his cold arm wrapped around my back helping me up. I looked away and blushed. I didn't like being vulnerable and this was just making things worse.

"Almost two days," he responded pulling away and sitting far back in the grey chair.

I ran a hand through my hair. Wow, two days is a long time. "Why was i out for that long?"

"You lost a lot of blood and the trauma to your head made things worse," Vincent replied with his teeth on edge. I don't think he apporved of what his father did to me. "You're body just needed to heal. You were actually asleep for a lot less than we expected. I thought you'd be gone for another two days or more."

"Why?"

"You were almost dead," he smirked making my eyes roll. "We have you on an IV and...Caroline checked on you regularly so..."

"You mean you did," Caroline teased strutting into the room like she owned the place. Well...she did.

Vincent shot her a dirty look but i barely noticed since i was staring horrified at the needle sticking out of my arm. "You stuck...a filthy...needle...into my arm?" i said in between breaths. I was frightened of needles, that was why i was so afraid of a vampires bite, because it reminded me of those horrible things.

"We made sure it was clean first," Vincent said like i was stupid. Then it finally clicked in his head. He through his head back and laughed making me glare at his form. "You're afriad of needles. Ha! I never thought i would see the day when Hayley was scared of something so harmless."
