"How did you get in here?"
Sarah looked up from where she was looking over the open files on Elliot's desk to see Elliot standing in the doorway breathing heavily with a bike over her shoulder. Sarah just shrugs before looking back over the files, "Callie let me in before she left to go pick up some groceries".
Elliot nodded letting out a huff as she moves to lean the bike up against the wall. When she looks up she sees the smug face of Sarah smirking at her as she flicks through the files. "So I see you've been looking through the Project Future Stars files" Sarah muses doing a shit job of hiding her superior look.
But Elliot just huffs as she wipes off sweat with a towel, "Shut up". Sarah let's out a small chuckle as her eyes flicker to the bike leaning against the wall, "Went for a cycle?" Elliot just nods as she sighs playing with the towel, "Yeah. Yeah I usually cycle around the city. I find it soothing. It relaxes me". Elliot shrugs lightly scratching the back of her neck, "I don't know why".
Sarah just hums looking back over to the bike recognising the familiar brand she had seen before the only difference is Elliot's bike was coloured white and red. Elliot seeing Sarah's focus move quirks an eyebrow, "Something wrong?"
Sarah shakes her head, "No no...just". Sarah glances back at the bike in question, "Just know someone with the same brand bike is all. Nice colour".
Elliot scrunches her face, "Thanks?" But shakes her head getting back on topic, "So why are you here anyways?"
This seems remind Sarah the reason she's here in the first place as she pulls something out of her bag, "Oh yes!" Elliot slips on her glasses before looking at the small rectangular card.
It was nicely done. It was midnight blue decorated with a small elegant silver bow with a simplistic design. The main design was the small little stars decorating the card. What grabbed Elliot's attention was the writing in the centre of the card done in some the of neatest calligraphy Elliot's ever seen.

"Wow" Elliot whistled before she looked up with a small grin, "really laying it on thick huh?" Sarah rolls her eyes, "Trust me when your in business for as long as I've have, you pick stuff up. Most of the time these guys with wallets only break it open if it makes them look good. Telling them by donating to the project they are helping guide the next future leaders makes them feel like they're doing something while having to do nothing".
Elliot shrugs accepting the logic, "Can't argue with that". "Great well I just wanted to get your final confirmation on some last minute details for the gala" Sarah explains already pulling out some more stuff from her bag.
Elliot slumps back in her seat, "Noooo". She gives the older woman a silent pleading look paired with puppy dog eyes and her lip jutting out, "I'm sore and sweaty and....". Elliot pauses trying to think of another reason to get out of doing this before she shrugs, "I just don't want to do it".
Sarah tisks under her breath but not quiet enough for Elliot not to hear, "Good to know some things don't change".
Elliot let's out a huff but just let's Sarah lay out plans in front of her. Thankfully most of the work was already done to such an immaculate standard that all Elliot had to do was nod and move on.
They had quickly moved onto the choice of Elliot's attire before they stopped.
"Okay what's up with you" Sarah sighs stopping pointing out different suits and dresses for Elliot to wear. Elliot drags her eyes away from the outfit choices to shrug, "Hm nothing".
Sarah looks the girl up and down with a scrutinising look, "You know I was surprised that you even asked to come to the gala. I wasn't expecting you to come". "With your hesitance and all to the business" she added.
Elliot turned to look out the window, "Had a change of heart I suppose". But that just made the woman scoff, "Yeah right wanna tell me the real reason for your presence at the gala?" Elliot bit her tongue until she eventually relented, "....I got a call".
Sarah's eyes widened considerably, "From Jessie?" Sarah couldn't help the small tug at her lips into a smile as she watched Elliot soften at her name. How her posture relaxed considerably, the crease in her forehead disappeared. And finally how her hand move subconsciously up to her neck only to drop it when she finds nothing there.
But she shakes her head, "No...no from Willow. She's-". Sarah waved her off, "I know who Willow is". Sarah bit her lip before continuing, "She called you?" Elliot shrugged, "She has been for a while. She kept calling my old phone every now and again like the others but I wouldn't pick up".
Elliot sighed, "But one day I just picked up. And...and we talked". Elliot smiled, "We talked. For ages. And it felt...so good". Elliot looked back at Sarah who was beaming at the insight, "We talked about the most useless things in the world. But it felt great". Elliot smiled, "It was going great. It was like we were back at that hospital when she would keep me company and would just tell me anything". But her smile faltered, "Then not so much".
Elliot sighed, "She asked me to meet. And I tried to explain but she sounded so desperate and sad and I just couldn't say no". Sarah pursued her lips, "You know...by agreeing to meet her at the gala...your likely to run into them". Elliot dragged her hand down her face letting out a bit sigh, "I know....I know".
"Okay" Sarah nods slowly, "so what are you going to do if you run into them? Cause if Willow told them your coming, you can be sure they're all going to be there". Elliot bites the inside of her cheek before her eyes land on the gala invitation.
She picks it up with a small grin waving it at Sarah, "These haven't been sent out yet right?" Sarah furrows her eyebrows but nods slowly, "Yeah....why?" Elliot leans back holding up with midnight blue invitation with a grin.
"Cause I have an idea".
