Hey guys!!! Well what can I say other than the fact that between all your messages, comments and the fact that there was a tiktok made about my book. Well it made me feel generous and very happy that you all enjoy it so much. So here's a little thank you I suppose.
'Maybe this was a mistake' Jessie thought as she waited in the cafe the next day. Feeling too excited and not wanting to chance being late and missing her, Jessie had showed up to the cafe at 9 o'clock.
But now it was 10 o'clock and still no sign of Elliot. Jessie was fidgeting so bad that everyone around her must have thought she was on a serious coffee high. Her leg was bouncing so much that it sent ripples through her coffee sitting on the table. Jessie had gotten so anxious that she had forced herself to take off her watch and shoved it in her pocket due to her checking it so much. (That and the fact she was getting notifications telling her to breathe and that her heart rate was up). But it didn't work so well as now she just checked her phone instead.
'Ten more minutes before I call it quits' she thinks drumming her fingers against the table.
It was only when it was 10:30 and two more cups of coffee later, Jessie pursued her lips so tightly together that they were a straight line. Jessie sighed before slowly lifting from the seat and moving towards the door trying to ignore the looks from the workers behind the counter.
But just as she reaches for door it swings opens and she is met face to face with Elliot. "Hey" She breathes out fixing her hat and sunglasses making sure no one else would recognize her.
Jessie swallows hard as her mouth opens and closes several times before she splutters out, "H-hi". She internally curses herself for being so awkward and flustered but relaxes somewhat when she sees Elliot's lips tick upwards into a small smile.
They awkwardly stand there before they realize they're blocking the entrance and move. After quickly ordering drinks they move back to the table that Jessie has been occupying for the past hour and a half. They sat quietly sharing fleeting glances before someone brought their drinks to the table. Quietly thanking the server they both fall back into silent before Elliot decides to change that.
"I'm sorry" Elliot sighs as she spins her coffee in her hand. Jessie finally meets her eye properly without looking away since they've sat down.
"It's okay" Jessie answers quietly acting as if she hasn't been having an anxiety attack wondering if Elliot was ever going to show. She sends a small smile towards her, "I'll always wait for you".
Elliot smiles before pursuing her lips. "I have a confession to make". Jessie tilts her head as Elliot bites her lip guiltily. "I've.... I've been across the road the entire time..." When she sees Jessie's shocked face, Elliot tries to explain. "I came here and I saw you and I started to have second thoughts and I've basically been standing across the road for over a hour trying to talk myself into coming here and..."
Elliot just trails off seemingly lost for words as she shrugs helplessly. Unable to find the words she needs to explain to Jessie.
Jessie taps her fingers on the table for a moment before giving her a small smile. "Well...I'm glad you decided to come".
Elliot breaths out a sigh of relief, "Yeah. So am I". There is another beat of silence. But this time the silence between them is more comfortable and less tense. Elliot licked her lips, her eyes flickering from Jessie down to her coffee. "You asked me for a chance to explain". Elliot's eyes lift back up to Jessie's, "I'll hear you out but I think your lying or if I don't like what I hear. I walk".
