For what only seemed like a minute after, Buck yelled for Dally, waking him up.
"DALLAS TUCKER WINSTON GET YOUR ASS DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW!" Buck screamed.
Dally didn't feel like going down so he fell back to sleep. Buck ended up coming upstairs and had to push Dally all the way down the stairs and to the door."Johnny killed a soc!" Ponyboy blurted out when Dally got to the door..
"Good for you." Dallas said because that's all he could think of. "Get in here. Ponyboy, are you wet?"Dally pulled them both in and Pony's shirt was soaking wet.
"I'm fine." He answered.
"You'll die of pneumonia 'fore the cops get to you!"Dallas took them both up to the room he was sleeping in and locked the door.
"Get that shirt off." Dally told Ponyboy and threw him a towel. "Dry off and wait here. At least Johnny's got his jeans jacket. You ought to know better than to run away in just a shirt and a wet one like that. Don't you ever use your head?"
He just sat there and stared at Dally. He then realized how much what he sounded like Darry and that explained it all
"Here Ponyboy. It's Buck's. You an' him ain't exactly the same size, but it's dry." He said as he handed Pony a plaid shirt.
"Take this. And don't point that thing at me Johnny. It's loaded." Dallas lectured while handing Johnny a gun.He really grew to like Johnny. If Dally had to pick one, Johnny would be his favorite greaser from the gang. He didn't know what he would do if something happened to him. Johnny was like a second family to him, after the gang.
Dallas handed Johnny fifty bucks while telling them directions to a hideout.
"Hop the 3:15 train to Windrixville. It's a freight. There is an old abandoned church on the top of Jay Mountain. There's a pump in the back so you don't have to worry about water. Buy a week's supply of food as soon as you get there - this morning, before the story gets out, and then don't so much as stick your noses out the door, you hear me?. I'll be up there as soon as I think it's clear."
"Man, I thought New York was the only place I could get mixed up in a murder rap." Dally added after a while.
Ponyboy and Johnny both were staring at Dally and nodding their heads. Dallas watched as they both ran out into the darkness until he couldn't see them no more.
