Operation: Snap Out Of It

You were heading into the castle with Mario after the past two interesting adventures to see the Princess screaming for help.

"SMG4 has holed himself up in the basement for the past two weeks and hasn't come out. You have to do something!" She pleaded. Mario sighs but agrees.

"I mean it is weird we haven't heard from him. Sure we'll see what's up." You said heading to the doors leading to the lower levels. You wave at Axol as you pass him on the way telling you he heard what sounded like SMG4 from the other side. Pointing to where the metal cap stage area was.

As you both explore the damp area you find SMG4 trying to explain it all from the 10 year anniversary.
The other SMGs the avatar the guardian pod and it's possible location and most importantly, zero. When he saw Mario he taped him to the wall, completely ignoring you and began to ramble about his theories. In the middle of it while facing away from you you quickly thunk the top of his head with your metal fist knocking him out and freed Mario.

"Let's get him up to his room that way the princess can have the basement back." You say heading back up watching as Mario nods and follows you.

Once you get SMG4 to his room you restrain him to his bed and wait for him to regain consciousness. When he starts rambling again Mario bonks him back to unconsciousness.

"What can I do to help..." he mutters before remembering the drug that can help, made by E. Gadd, of course.

You sigh but got curious about the inner machinations of SMG4. So you take a hit and join Mario in an empty void you couldn't move from.

"Huh. I more expected this from you." You joke to the red plumber who glares at you before hearing a noise. It was faint but getting closer. You both turn to look and are greeted by the Pingas train. You both try unsuccessfully to move and are forced onto the front of the train headed for who knows where.

When you land there's an explosion and you and Mario are on the ground relatively unharmed. As you both get up you take a look at what your surroundings were. To which you find the building labeled "SMG4s inner mind" surrounded by teletubbies and memes.

"Huh, think we're supposed to go in there?" You ask the Italian.

"Eh, might as well." He says walking in with you following.

As you pass rooms you see possible problems but they don't seem to be the root of the problem. "I mean for all we know he's just having an off day." You mutter until you see Mario head for the meme room. You watch as he party's with the memes when you see a familiar phenomenon take the memes away and SMG4 start theorizing again to which you try to get Mario out of there but you and the fat Pisano get punched up a layer into a white void with a spinning beeg SMG4.

To which Mario went up and touched.

You were about to chew him out before it greeted both of you.

"Who the h-e-double Fock are you?" Mario asked.

"You're his meme machine, aren't you?" You ask. To which the being nods.

"I am running low on power ever since the anniversary, please find the source of this and stop it." It said before fading away.

You two then find yourself in a studio room. And you get inside to find SMG4 and Boopkins filming a show called Hobo Bros together? And Boopkins sounded a bit different. But that was irrelevant as you saw just how a meme was being made in SMG4s mind. Up until Mario interrupted the process and was asked to do something funny.

Then Mario said something about being number one. Which started a chain reaction of the whole studio being wiped away and you two falling into a black void. When you look up you see SMG4 trying to impress people and when that fails you see dark incarnations of your friends telling him hurtful things but before you confront them you see a octo girl in the back corner.

"Mario, take care of this. Somethings grabbed my attention." You say as he looked at you confused but nodded and ran to his friends aid.

You approach the girl and tap her shoulder. She jumps a bit but looks at you bewildered.

"Y-you can see me?" She asked looking you over.

"Yeah, you seem, distraught." You say looking her over when she sighed

"I uh, haven't been used much recently because I'm dead..." she said looking down.

"Wait you wouldn't happen to be Desti would you?" You ask putting a hand on her shoulder before a bright white flash engulfs everything.

You and Mario wake up with a start and you notice someone new on the floor.

"Oh no..." you muttered before getting hit by a smacked Mario.

"Gyahaha!" You yell.

"Wait who is that!?" SMG4 asks looking at the new person on the floor. When the person sits up its Desti?! But she's half human, half octoling.

"What did you do?!" SMG4 asked you.

"I don't know I was talking to her in your head when we fixed everything. And then tada!" You explain gesturing to the confused halfling.

"I-I'm back?" She asked scared confused hopeful and shivering.

"I guess so... this is gonna be a awkward conversation with Meggy...." SMG4 says facepalming.
