Summer had just arrived and for most Hogwarts students it would be filled by a relaxing break from the wizarding world... Especially those going into their last year at the magical school.

However, little did one student know she would be spending the time off with an unexpected familiar name...

Every summer holiday, April Lily Snape would spend her time with her Father at their cramped, dejected home in Spinners End, or in the inviting property - which was the Weasley Burrow. Both she loved as equally.

The dark haired, young witch was best friends with both of the red haired twins - Fred and George. She was well acquainted with all the Weasley family, as well as the infamous Golden Trio. They met in her second year - the twins being in their first year - where they had emerged paths from playing a devious prank on the cold, dark haired professor. April was often influenced in playing pranks by the twins and on numerous occasions even pranked her own Father, much to her delight. She was always a troublemaker.

In the first week of August, Remus Lupin received a welcoming letter stating a job vacancy had occurred at his previous childhood home - Hogwarts. With his current living situation and his obvious struggle with income, Remus couldn't miss the opportunity and gladly accepted the Headmaster's request.

After, he endured a rather surprising visit.

Opening the door to his small and cosy cottage, stood Albus Dumbledore, wearing his usual knowing smirk.

"Ah Remus my boy, lovely to see you again" Dumbledore stated as he watched the man's bewildered expression in front of him.

"Professor Dumbledore, I wasn't expecting guests. What do I owe this pleasure?" Answered politely trying to understand his surprised visit.

"May we come in?" The older man expressed, peering over his half moon spectacles and stepping as side to show his companion.

Both, the young wizard and the beautiful witch stood in a daze staring mindlessly at each other, completely forgetting the Headmasters knowing gaze.

"Erm, y-yes yes of course, come in" stuttering after clearing his throat, stepping as side to invite both guests in.

The young witch stepped into the sitting area of Remus' cottage, which warmly invited her - she noted how it was just as welcoming as the Burrow. Torn pieces of parchment, various empty tea cups, books and... was that? Empty Honeydukes chocolate wrappers, scattered across the living space.

"Apologies. You will have to excuse the mess, I clearly wasn't expecting to see anyone"

"No, no don't apologise Remus. I'm sure my sudden appearance came quite as a shock to you. However, I'll like to introduce you to this young lady" As Dumbledore gestured to the raven haired young witch standing in his home.

Politely she responded, extending her hand for Remus to shake. "April Snape, it is lovely to meet you Sir"

The man softly grasped onto her petite hand, in comparison to his large, calloused ones. "Remus Lupin, the pleasure is mine" he announced whilst feeling a spark of electricity run through his hand and up his forearm.
"Snape? Did I hear that correctly?"

"Ah yes, I presume you are unaware of Severus's daughter, I know you didn't see eye to eye in both of your youth days" Stated the older Professor.

"N-no I h-had to no idea actually" Remus answered feeling confused at why Dumbledore was now introducing them.

"It has come to my attention that April might become slightly endangered in regards to her Father's business with the Dark Lords followers" Dumbledore spoke.
"Severus has done a magnificent job at keeping her safe and her existence to many quiet. However, darker times lay ahead and I am afraid his other... acquaintances might catch on"

"And what are you suggesting Albus?" Asked Remus, still quite bewildered by the sudden visit.

"I am hoping that Miss Snape could stay here until her final year at Hogwarts arrives. I know I am asking a lot of your time Remus; however, this is very important and I would hate to put Severus' previous safety of his daughter in jeopardy"

The young wizard understood Dumbledore's request but couldn't help a slight blush appear on his cheeks as he took in his former Headmaster's words.

Oh Merlin.

Clearing his throat Remus answered "Of course, I totally understand"

"Lovely. I shall leave you two to it then! And I will see you both at the start of the new term. Good day" As the old Professor swiftly made his way out.

The air suddenly grew thick as an awkward silence appeared.

"I know this is unexpected and trust me I wasn't envisioning my last summer before school starts to plan out this way. But I-I appreciate it" April politely stated trying to diffuse any tension.

"Yes well I never expected the day Severus Snape would have a daughter but nevertheless I am happy to help ensure your safety" Remus chuckled slightly, welcoming his guest.

The two just stood absentmindedly staring into each others eyes - one pair being the piercing blue that attracted the young witch instantly. Whereas, the other pair, a dark charcoal that made the older man become slightly mesmerised.

Clearing his throat "W-well please make yourself at home. Your room shall be the second door on the left upstairs. Let me know if you need any further assistance in settling in"

"Thank you Remus"

Hearing his name roll of her tongue sent shivers down his spine as he watched the beautiful woman climb the stairs.

Little did they both know, they were thinking the exact same.

This was going to be one long summer...
