Calm Before the Storm

The Great Hall of Hogwarts was warmly decorated with an assembly full of candles that floated above the heads of the ecstatic students - all clearly buzzing to be back. As well as the nervous first years, who stood biting their nails anxiously, awaiting on their destined House.

Sitting down at their usual designated seats, April's eyes subconsciously started to wander across the Teacher's table. Immediately their gazes locked. Blue on Brown.

Remus gave her a slight nod in acknowledgment as her lips immediately twitched at the corners. A gesture that didn't go unnoticed by a dark, looming, slightly confused figure who had already been protectively glancing over at her.

"Good evening students and teachers, welcome back to a new year" The Headmaster addressed after the sorting ceremony. "I would like to introduce a new professor for Defence Against the Darks, who will be joining our ranks this year. Everyone please give a warm welcome to Professor R.J Lupin" as he gestured to the tall, rather lean, ruggedly handsome man.

The great hall erupted as the slightly anxious wolf stood and bowed politely at his introduction.

"I'd say five months..." quietly stated Fred
"...Just before the end of the year" his brother, George stated as they quickly shook both hands.

"What are you two talking about?" asked a rather confused Olivia

"Oh nothing... Only when dearest Lupin will quit-" George said "-Or die" his brother finished off

"Stop it, the pair of you. No one is leaving and no one is especially going to die!" Stated April sternly, shaking her head at their childish antics.

"The job is jinxed" the twins said a matter of factly in unison

"Yeah well... we'll see at the end of the year"

After the feast some students left to get sorted back into their dormitories, whereas, the other proportion stayed and continued to chat amongst their friends. Mostly reflecting and catching up on the latest gossip.

"Right, who's in for getting plastered tonight?" Said a rather keen Olivia

"We're in" both the twins stated in sync

"Hmm I'm not sure. I was thinking on getting an early night. Classes start tomorrow and I'm not prepared to get an earful off my Dad about how 'this is your last year April, you need to take it seriously" she spoke in her deepest monotone voice trying to replicate the voice of the dark haired Professor, whilst the others chuckled.

"That is quite right Miss Snape, we wouldn't want to fail NEWTS and have to stay back an extra year, would we?" said a booming, rich voice behind her

The chuckling of the four students immediately quietened as their heads dropped silently to avoid the awkward interaction of being caught.

April hesitantly turned to face her Father "Professor Snape, how wonderful to see you" she spoke sarcastically with a cheesy smile

"My office" and with that he turned on his heels and started striding in direction of the dungeons.

"Have fun with the Dungeon Bat" George said with a smug grin - they always loved teasing the Witch.

"I guess I'll see yous later then" as she started to walk off "...oh and save me a drink" she called back over her shoulder.
