Misty drizzles reigned over Xianyang. There was no moonlight at night. In a study room, warm light illuminated the place. Ying Wenxiang lowered the umbrella he used and entered stopped in front of his study. His brows knitted. He didn't remember leaving the lights on. With a suspicious look, he held the door's lid when he came to hear his son's giggling. Ying Wenxiang opened the door to see Ying Wendao writing something on the xuan paper and Hong Cha painting from his canvas.
Hong Cha raised her head and smiled. "Crown Prince, just on time." she dipped the brush to a red ink she made before dabbing it on the canvas. Hong Cha went to him, his irritated gaze locked on her small figure but she remained smiling cheekily. With all her strength, she dragged Ying Wenxiang in front of the canvas that Ying Wendao was admiring. Ying Wenxiang was expressionless at first but when he saw her painting, he looked astonished. She had painted him with a loose red robe, showcasing his shoulder and almost all of his broad chest.
In the painting, the Ying Wenxiang there wasn't the real Ying Wenxiang. His painted red lips gaped, showing his pearly white teeth biting his nail seductively. Ying Wenxiang's pair of crimson red eyes seemed to be enchanting anyone who sees his painting. His long dark hair scattered over the clear misty spring water surrounding him as his slim body leaned on a rock. He was like an epitome of a demon or an incubus ready to charm a woman. Completely contrasting with Ying Wenxiang's clean and meticulous personality.
"Dao!" he remembered Ying Wendao was looking at the painting. Ying Wenxiang covered his son's eyes. His glare sent to Hong Cha. "I'll deal with you later. Dao, go back to your residence. Now."
"Aw..." Ying Wendao removed the hand covered his face. He pouted his lips and left but secretly raised a thumbs up to Hong Cha. Ying Wenxiang face-palmed.
"You, how did you get here?" he immediately asked her. Hong Cha pointed at the boy's shadow behind the door screen. Ying Wenxiang understood it was his son who let her in. "Princess, I told you we cant do such thing. I do not want to marry because-"
"You love Hong Cha?" she disrupted him. Ying Wenxiang nodded. Hong Cha tittered and wrapped her arms around his neck. Her round almond hazel eyes flickering while looking through his rosy pupils. "So? Hadn't heard of the idiom 'new pleasures can replace old love'?"
"You phrased it wrong." Ying Wenxiang pushed her a bit to keep a distance. Their silence invaded by the sound of pattering raindrops. Hong Cha glanced outside from the door's opening. She headed there and closed it slowly before eyeing at Ying Wenxiang like a predator. He took a step back, cold sweat forming from his back. "Even if you do like me, I like someone else. Princess, love is not something you can take. It is something you earn."
"Heh. That is why Im here." Hong Cha fiddled with her blouse's button as if ready to take it off. Ying Wenxiang closed his eyes to calm himself. This is not good. He is thinking of her taking her blouse off her which reminded him when she wore that strapped short gown. His throat bobbed. Just then, he felt her slender hand touching his chest, slowly and teasingly. Hong Cha raised herself then nipped on his neck. Ying Wenxiang almost pushed her forcefully but he stopped so he cant hurt her. "Crown Prince, stimulated?"
"No." he remained stubborn. Hong Cha grinned and walked towards his main chair in front of his desk. She tapped the ink stick on her cheek, her gaze never leaving him.
"Then open your eyes and look at me." she challenged. Ying Wenxiang did before turning to her. Hong Cha looked down to his handwritten reports. "You know, I wish you were more like that man in the painting. Reciprocative, devious, seductive even if he doesn't mean to. So that, I can have a reason to pin you down right away."
"If I am him, are you not afraid I will look for others?" he countered back, his frowning sight setting on the painting.
"No. Because that Ying Wenxiang will be loyal and gentle too. Just the type of man I wanted." she grinned. Ying Wenxiang sighed in helplessness.
"Princess, its already late. Please do go to Jin Courtyard in Guan Palace to rest." Ying Wenxiang pointed to the door. Hong Cha nodded and stood up. She stopped in front of him before puckering her lips and closing her eyes.
"Kiss." she foolishly smiled. Ying Wenxiang cant tell if he should be angry or what. "Kiss. Now. Or I'll make Prince Dao live with me."
Ying Wenxiang reluctantly leaned down. He came to stare at her closed eyes once their lips touched. Hong Cha opened her mouth, her sweet tongue teasing him. Ying Wenxiang reminded himself he was 'forced' so he began reciprocating. She parted first, unknowingly leaving him hanging on a thread. Hong Cha smiled and left without bidding farewell. She took the umbrella he placed outside as Ying Wenxiang can only see her leave.
Only five days left before the grand wedding. Hong Cha had fun bullying Ying Wenxiang the other day so its time for her to get back to work. She made System Wu contact Gu Jiaoyue at night. He is indeed active in taking over Ying Huai's body this late. Gu Jiaoyue arrived in front of Guan Palace to meet her. His eyes formed crescent to mock her upon seeing Hong Cha slipping out of the palace gates late at night. Well, this is unusual but luckily, no one is around to see them.
"You've been dormant to your mission lately. Was being with Ying Wenxiang better than Ying Huai?" Gu Jiaoyue asked and received an unhappy look from Hong Cha.
"Ying Wenxiang doesn't like me. He's not even interested to me even for a bit. Maybe he is not Gu Zixing." she opened the palace gate wider so they can get inside Guan Palace. Gu Jiaoyue closed it afterwards. However, they heard maids laughing and are going to their direction. Gu Jiaoyue pulled Hong Cha behind a bush of carnation. They knelt down to keep their heights the same as the flowers. "Why are we hiding?"
"Tsk. You don't know how strict ancient China is, or 120 BCE, this year." he kept watch on the maids passing by. "If the maids relayed that they saw us together, the marriage will become two days from today. Are you fine with that?"
