Chapter 2

The fire was burning and you were sitting near the fireplace with a cup of coffee in hand.Thinking, making connections. 'I wonder who found the megamycete, I mean I left it in the most isolated cave.'

Yesterday you'd been walking all goddamn day through the rain and snow, and you just wanted a minute to rest and to eat. The sun was starting to set and you still needed to inform Chris about today, but for the moment you were content to just sit on the sofa and get warm. It was 10 pm and Chris called you to get the new updates.

"Hey Y/n , everything alright?" Chris asked.

"Chris, bit late right?. You chuckled "Yeah everything ok, im still alive". Found out that, as we suspected, some woman that people here call "Mother Miranda" is using the megamycete to control this village" You said while you placed your cup of coffee on the table next to you.

"Y/n... do you think she is?...You know ?" He said in a worried tone.

You still refuse to think that Mother Miranda is actually Miranda, I mean there are a lot of Mirandas right?. But inside you , you just knew that she was the only one that might be able to control it , it has to be someone who has at least a little bit of knowledge in biology and genetics. And also someone intelligent.

"Y/n... are you there? I'm sorry I didn't mean to upset you" Chris said.

"Yes, I'm here don't worry ill be fine and if it is her I would end her." You said that and hanged up, you were somehow angry. Not with Chris but with the world, why? I promised myself that I would never search for her again and here I am making plans and avoiding contact. But we all know that I would have to see her sooner or later.

The next day as soon as you woke up someone called you. The display said "unknown number".You picked it up anyways.

"Hello?" You said.

"Y/n it's me Alcina. You gave me your phone number yesterday remember?". She said.

You slightly sat in your bed , a few strands of your hair falling in front of your ever sharp (y/e/c) eyes.

"Oh, yes Alcina. Is everything fine?" You said, curiosity invading you.

"Yes my dear, I was wondering if you wanted to have a cup of tea today at my castle".

I thought she'd never call me because she didn't like me, but I was wrong. "Sure i'll be there, thank you".You said finally waking up from your warm bed.

"5pm don't be late darling" she said in a... seductive tone?. She then hanged up

Today was clearer than it was the day before though you still had to suffer with the cold weather in the Village. After having breakfast. You came to an edge, a cliff's peak and you went to stand on the edge of it—to maybe see the rest of the mountain you were exploring but something caught your immediate attention.
A woman dressed in black robes, a gold bird like mask that covers all her face and a golden halo. You noticed wings? In her back, maybe it's a costume I'm not sure. She made her way into a church? Or that's what it seemed like. As she walked you noticed people? Wolves? What are those creatures?. You immediately picked up your handgun, just in case.

"In life and death we give glory to Mother Miranda" someone said behind you.

Your legs stopped moving immediately and your gloved hand was already wrapped around your handgun. You turned around but no one was there. A loud growling and barking not too far from where you stood, maybe two or three hundred feet to your right just through those bushes and that fallen tree. It sounded as if someone was having a bit of trouble with a pack of wolves. Which struck you as odd, you were still pretty high up on the mountains.

You approached to the edge and saw a man trying to fight with those wolves. He seems like he could use a hand. You thought. From your backpack you managed to take the appropriate gun for this moment, then shot at those wolves. The man turned around and he was running towards you.

"Hey thank you, you're not a local right? My name is Ethan Winters I'm looking for my daughter Rose." He said almost out of breath.

"Ethan??? No i'm not from here, actually I was looking for you with Chris" I replied letting out a relief sigh. Two days here and I have already made so much progress in this mission.

He grabbed by my wrists, really tight.

"You're hurting me Ethan what's your problem? Let go of me" I said trying to set free from him.

"That liar! He stole my little Rose and shot at my wife how can you be on his side?". He said, still not letting go of you.

"You misunderstood him Ethan, he was saving you and Rose. He did not shoot at Mia, it wasn't Mia. But then the van crashed and we don't know where's Rose. I will help you find her but please let go of me" I said calmly.

"Fine i believe you but I need to find Rose. We need to find her" He said while he loaded his gun.

"Here put this on. It is a device that was programmed to monitor the wearer's health, track any E-Type BOW and to receive incoming calls from other people." We need to be in contact with you.
