When I heard her scream I was awake in my office going through papers while discussing some things with Diego, one of our very well known weapon dealers. I didn't hesitate a second to turn off my phone and I ran to her room as a weird feeling settled itself in the pit of my stomach.
Blake was there first and stood in the middle of her room as we all stared at our angel that was fighting against her own demons. Her small figure was debating against her covers and I could see the sweat covering her forehead. She looked terrified.
I hated it that we couldn't help her in this fight. How is it possible that I fight the worst criminals and dealers, but I can't even help my own sister ?
All we could do is try to wake her up, which took us quite some time, but Blake was the one to succeed. He used his nickname for her. Lila. Haven't heard that one in 10 years.
Now that she is finally awake, her whole body is trembling, shaking, fear evident in her gaze. Just seeing this already makes me feel useless and incapable but when I see a purple bruise on her frail wrist, I completely shut down. At that moment I could have burnt the whole mansion down, anger rushing through me like a wild fire. Someone hurt her and is apparently still doing it through her nightmares.
A bruise. An other one. She is covered in them. Covered in cuts, burns, scars and pain.
I stare at her in shock, her eyes empty of any joy. They aren't glowing like they did a few years ago, now they are empty and cold. Just like all of us. How is that possible ? We went through so much shit in the last years which explains our lack of happiness, but her... I just hope nothing too bad happened to her.
But from now on I promise myself that I will make her happy again. I will protect my little sister like I should. I will be better and get her to smile again. No more fear.
But first we need to take care of her pain. And as Leo intends to have a closer look at her, she passes out from the pain. I just give Leo enough of time to look at her, even if my anxiety begs me to do something. But I trust Leo and I know he will figure out what is wrong with her, otherwise I would have raced to the hospital a long time ago.
"Fuck..." Leo mumbles as he looks at her stomach and ribs carefully, his hand carefully grazing her skin.
"What is it Leo ?" I ask worriedly and prepare myself to hear the worst.
"We have to get her to the hospital right now. It doesn't look good at all Damon..." he whispers quietly as I see guilt rise up in his greyish eyes, because he can't do anything to help her.
And as he says those words, I scoop up our princess bridal style as gently as I can in my arms. She has to be alright, we just got her back.
"Get the car ready Blake, you are the fastest out of all of us." I order one of the twins, who immediately follows my instructions by leaving Magnolia's bedroom.
