He heard the cry of a little child echoing through the serene woods. The serenity of the woods was in contrast to the howls, screams and bloodshed on the battlefield. He followed the sound, deeper into the woods. There, he found a little girl standing over her mother's dead body, with a vampire right behind her.
Before the vampire could attack her, he caught his head and twisted it, instantly killing him. The little girl turned around, looking scared and surprised. She raised both her fists, in an attempt to protect herself and her mother from the vampire in front of her.
"I will not hurt you child. I just saved you didn't I?" He explained, as gently as possible to the child. She slowly lowered her fists, still keeping her guard up. She may have been a child but she was intelligent and remembered the lessons taught by her late parents.
"I need you to listen carefully, run as fast as you can. Follow the oak trees and you'll find refuge okay?"
"How can I trust you?" She asked quietly. He had expected her to cry after seeing her mother die but she still remained strong.
"I just saved you, didn't I?"
She thought for a minute. "But I cannot leave my mother. She is resting."
His eyes softened and he knelt in front of her. "Your mother would have wanted you to live. That's why she sacrificed herself for you."
"My mother is not dead!" She shouted and started shaking her mother's shoulders violently, in an attempt to wake her up. She was very much dead with blood oozing from her head and neck.
He caught her hands and turned her around. "Listen to me very carefully. You are a strong person. Run away now and live well. Your mother would have wanted you to live on. Run, now!" He yelled at her.
She hesitated, gulping visibly. She slowly walked backwards and ran away, not turning around once. He stood up and turned around to walk away. He saw his brother walking towards him.
"Did you kill her?" He asked, pointing at the woman's dead body.
"No, another vampire killed her and I killed him." He answered, pointing at the vampire's dead body lying few feet away.
"Okay. You might want to use that on father now. He has already captured the remaining werewolves and plans on slaughtering them."
"Let us hurry then." They ran towards the castle and found in the throne room, their father sitting on the throne with werewolves kneeling down in front of him. The room was already scattered with the bodies and heads of the werewolves his father killed. They hid outside the door, peeking from behind . Their mother and sister were kneeling in front of him. It looked their sister, Thea had tried to fight him off but had failed.
"Father." He called out as he walked into the room with his brother at his heels. His father looked up.
"Kneel before your king." His father ordered, with a dangerous glint in his eye. He walked towards his father and hesitantly knelt down.
"That is good. Be obedient or else you know your fate." He smiled dangerously.
"I know but I don't think you know your Fate. Let me show you." He stood up and before anyone could even blink, he embedded the dagger into his heart. His father sat there for a minute, surprised. He looked at the hilt protruding from his heart and he fell sideways. He started gnawing at the hilt and before he could pull it out, his body turned into ash with the dagger left behind.
"What did you do?!" Alfred yelled angrily. He was his father's pet and his favorite son.
"If you were his favorite, why didn't you save him?" Aiden suggested, casually shrugging his shoulders. Alfred turned into his real form, his eyes turning red and black veins appearing on his face and neck. He jumped at Edward but Aiden and Thea caught him under the arms. He struggled in their grip so Edward punched his stomach. Aiden and Thea took turns hitting him. They forced him to kneel, holding his shoulders firmly.
Edward raised the dagger and was about to stab him but his mother caught his wrist. "No my son. Let him live. I can't bear seeing my children killing each other."
Edward reluctantly lowered his hand and looked at Alfred, disgust clear in his eyes. "I will have mercy on you. Run away from here as far as you can. Do not show up here again and you are dead to us." They slowly let go his shoulders.
He slowly stood up, facing Edward. "I will be back soon. Just wait for me little brother."
Edward, Thea and Aiden divided the the Kingdom of Krashka into three parts; Kingdom of Mist, Kingdom of Kraken and Kingdom of Ravka respectively. Their mother, Ada Everett, stayed alone in Thea's kingdom while taking turns in visiting her sons. Though she was heartbroken upon her loss ,she was happy for her other children.
