There was a knock on her front door. "Come in. The door is open." She called out from her huge living room, sipping coffee. A vampire came in, holding a piece of parchment in his hands. He bowed and handed her the letter. She set down her cup and accepted it. She opened it.
"Dear Alpha Serephina,
You are cordially invited to stay at the castle starting from tomorrow. A three-day ball will be held on the occasion of Independence day. You will be provided with garments and a grand room to make your stay comfortable. We hope you accept this invitation. If yes, a carriage will be sent to pick you up tomorrow at 10' O' Clock. If you are bringing any guest, please inform beforehand so that we can have an extra room prepared. Also, kindly mention their names. You may bring a maximum of two guests along with you.
Regards, Lady Seth."
She looked up to the messenger who was patiently for her reply. She pondered over it for a minute. "Its a yes. Should I give a written letter?"
"A simple yes is sufficient Alpha. I shall convey your message. But if you wish to bring any guests, you shall have to write a letter."
"Um, I'm not sure. Can I send it tomorrow?"
"You most certainly can Alpha but since I'm already here, you can write a letter now. I shall wait patiently." He said in a monotone. She wondered how many people he had given this letter and said those things?
"I have called you all here to let you all know that I will be staying at the palace for a week since they have invited me for the Independence Day ball which will be going on for three days. I will take two people with me. Any volunteers?" Her eyes swept throughout the room, pointedly looking at her comrades. She waited but nobody volunteered.
She sighed. "It seems like I will have to choose. Delta Green and Head Hunter Zeen, you both shall accompany me. Beta Heart, will be ruling in my stead and I ask your cooperation. Delta and Head Hunter, please stay back. Others may leave." The others bowed and left except for her two companions. She had chosen two females to accompany her.
She nodded to them. "I shall send a letter to them right away." She drafted a letter, stating their names and her consent and handed it to the messenger from the palace who stood hidden in the shadows. He blended in with it so well that she forgot for a second that he was there.
He bowed and left.
She turned to them. "They will be picking us up tomorrow at 10' O' Clock in the morning and the letter stated that we will be provided with clothing and bed. Now, if you are uncomfortable, you may carry a few pieces of clothing. But see to it that you do not carry more than one small bag for your necessities. is that understood?"
They both nodded their heads in a yes. She nodded. "Any queries?"
Delta raised her hand. She only spoke after Serephina beckoned her to. "How long will we be staying in the palace?"
"The letter stated a week. Any other queries?" She paused, waiting. When none were raised, she continued. "I want you both to be on your best behavior. Avoid picking fights or taunting vampires. Do not answer back when they comment on you since they want to provoke us. Just ignore them or if you can, pass a witty remark. Nothing more that. Is that understood?"
They nodded again. "You may leave." They bowed and left, leaving her. She crossed the pack borders and walked towards the spot where she usually went, half-expecting Edward to be there. Edward did not let her down though. He was there, waiting for her, as she approached the place. He looked so out of place and like a statue leaning against the tree.
She smiled at him. "I didn't think you would be here."
"Well your eyes say otherwise." He stated, stepping forward and wrapped his hands around her waist, pulling her closer to his body. "So you are coming to me palace right?"
She nodded her head, wrapping her hands around his neck. "Of course. The offer was too tempting to decline."
"I'm not supposed to say this but you have a very special room waiting for you." He said, giving her a small smile.
"Really? How special?"
He tilted his head in thought. "So special that you will be able to see me all the time."
"So basically my room is closer to yours?"
"And more than that." He said mysteriously and dipped his head down to kiss her. "We can do so many things in the palace." He whispered against her lips huskily, making her knees weak at just that voice.
"So, will we tell people? About us?"
"I do not see any reason to hide it." He dipped his head down for another kiss when Serephina's ears perked as she heard a set of footsteps.
"Someone's approaching us." She whispered, suddenly on alert.
He frowned. "What? Who?"
