Aunt Malorie was quite for a long time. She finally said, "I think she is your sweetheart."
His expression changed. He sat up straight. "How is that possible? Me, having a sweetheart."
She seemed to think for a moment. She too, walked out of the door lost in thought. He sat back and sighed in frustration, rubbing his forehead with his forefinger. What was with those two sisters? He thought to himself as he took the cup and sipped through his medicine. It did calm him down, taking his mind off of things temporarily.
His mother entered the room, looking happy and excited, so he assumed that she had already spilled the beans. "You may have a sweetheart."
"Mother, I...."
"Shhh my love. Your aunt told me everything. Now," she sat down and took a deep breath, "let us take a look at your future." She offered him her hand. He looked at it for a moment, thinking about the situation. He could not refuse his mother so he sighed and took her hand.
"How does she look?"
"She has long black hair usually worn down and blue-gray eyes. She is tall, a little taller than you and is very beautiful." He described her, a longing flashing momentarily in his eyes.
She nodded her head. "Okay, let us see." She closed her eyes and their intertwined hands glowed with a faint red glow. The glow died down after a short while and his mother opened her eyes.
"So yes, she is your sweetheart and you both are destined to be with each other. However," she stopped, looking concerned.
"However?" He urged her.
"However, there shall be hardships in your way but no relationship is without its problems."
He knew she was hiding something from him. All these twenty years of being a King had taught him to be a good judge of people. But he said nothing and just nodded his head.
The day of the wedding finally came and Edward was dressed in the clothes that their tailor had sewed. It was a lilac suit which had a combination of red and golden embroidery in terms of small stitching such as the buttons or on the frills of suit. It was a simple yet royal. He tied back his long silver hair in a low ponytail. His General's suit was similar to his but a lot simpler. His mother's dress was gorgeous. It was a mermaid dress with a combination of red and golden embroidery similar to his but they were little flowers. Her hair was tied back in an extensive knot and her face was covered with a layer of makeup.
They reached the venue at the designated time and were greeted by two warriors outside the gates. They showed their invitation and they were let in. The place was teeming with guests. There were faerie folk including elves, goblins and faeries. They did receive one or two disgust looks but other than that, nobody said anything. Everyone wore lilac except for two women whom Edward assumed were the bridesmaids.
"It is so nice to see you here. I'm glad you could make it." Serephina stated, smiling broadly.
"It is nice to be here. Please meet my mother, Lady Jocelyn Seth and my General Albeit Krugan." Edward introduced. She shook hands with both of them, smiling sweetly. She wasn't wearing lilac. She wore a basque violet dress with an illusion neckline of violet net and flounce sleeves of the same net. Her long black hair was braided away from her face except two strands of hair which fell on either side of her face. She wore a very thin layer of makeup, only darkening her lips and applying kohl around her eyes, making her eyes stand out.
"Are you going to officiate the wedding?" His mother asked, looking at her dress.
She looked down and smiled. "Ah, yes. I will be officiating but I will be changing right after."
"This color suits your natural beauty."
She looked flustered as if nobody had noticed her beauty till now. "Why thank you. But it is nothing compared to your beauty."
She waved her hand in front of her as if it was no big deal. "You have a youthful glow to your face. I can see why men are attracted to you." She subtly glanced at Edward who gave her a questioning look.
She chuckled lightly. "No one is attracted to a strong woman. Men prefer weaker women and damsels in distress and I'm certainly not like that."
"But they are surely attracted to your beauty aren't they?"
"They are but I'm not interested in playing right now. I have rather important businesses to handle and a pack to protect."
She gave a lopsided grin. "Keep up the good work Alpha."
Edward stepped in. "Mother, why don't we mingle? Alpha Black here must have other work."
"Not really. I would love to have a chat with Lady Seth."
"Consider it my pleasure." They both walked away, leaving them alone. They seemed to get along well and were smiling at each other.
