"I see you have changed your clothes." Edward noticed as he approached her table and sat down beside her. The orchestra was playin a slow song to which the newly wedded couple danced.
She looked down at her dress and looked up. "Yes I did. It wasn't wedding color anyway."
"I find is assuming how people can assign colors to events."
She chuckled lightly. The corners of his mouth twitched. He was happy that he could make her smile at the very least. "It is very confusing but it promotes unity so I'm not against that."
"Do you like weddings?"
She thought about it for a minute. "I can't say I like weddings. I feel being bound to someone for all eternity can be stressful but then again if you both love each other and are willing, then I do not have a problem."
He nodded in understanding, looking at the dance floors. Others had started to join the couple, dancing with their partners. "Would you like to dance with me?"
She looked flustered and surprised. "But, I don't know how to dance."
"Don't worry, I will teach you." He stood up and offered her his hand. "Shall we my lady?"
"I thought I had asked you to call me Alpha."
"I stand corrected. Shall we my Alpha?" She smiled and took his hand, standing up. Now he could see her dress clearly. She wore an off-shoulder lilac dress with wedding symbols embroidered on it. This time her hair was tied up in a messy knot and two earrings dangled from her ears. He noticed a symbol on her upper arm, peeking from her sleeve but he said nothing about it.
He led her to the dance floor and faced each other. He put his arm around her waist and pulled her, such that it made her gasp slightly. He took her left hand and placed it on his right shoulder. He took her right hand and held it in his left hand. "Now follow me." She had no idea what to do but he guided her steps and she stepped wherever he stepped. She was slowly getting the hang of it.
"You are a fast learner." He remarked.
She smiled. "You are a good teacher."
"It is my pleasure to teach a such a good student."
She laughed lightly and seeing her laugh brought a small smile to his face. She looked into his eyes, her expression open. "You know you are nothing like how others talk about you."
"Is that so? What do they talk about?"
"You know that you are cold-hearted and ruthless and indifferent."
"What do you think I am?"
She thought about it for a moment. "You may be cold and ruthless but what people do not understand is that no one is born like that. They turn into their inner beats because of what they have been through. We all have different coping mechanisms. Some become cold, some have anger management issues, some go astray and some become chirpy."
He was stunned by her words. No one is his life has said those words. She understood what it was like to stand in his shoes since she was a ruler too. He pulled her closer, such that their faces were inches apart. He could feel her hot breath against his face. Her knees were already feeling weak and held onto Edward. Their bodies touched, the heat between them rising as if they stood on lava. Her heart raced a mile an hour.
"You are the most beautiful and brilliant being I have ever seen." He whispered, looking at her lips and then back into her eyes. He slowly inched his face closer to hers. Her heartbeat increased as she waited, breathing heavily. She seemed to be frozen in her place. He brought his lips closer and caught her lips with his.
His lips were cold against her warm lips. She stood frozen for a minute, her cheeks turning bright red. She reluctantly gave in, wrapping her arms around his neck to deepen the kiss. She didn't care if anyone saw them or not. Her mate was kissing her and that was more important for her. His one hand rested on her waist and the other hand rested on her neck. They kissed for what seemed like forever.
She lay in bed, playing their kiss over and over in her head. He had stolen her first kiss and she was extremely nervous. What if he didn't enjoy the kiss? What if he tells her that it was a mistake? She didn't care. Her mate had kissed her. She turned around and hugged her pillow in glee and ecstasy. She squealed lightly and then cleared her throat. Then she realized that no one was around to act tough for and she squealed again, too excited to sleep.
He touched his lips as he stared at himself in the mirror of his bathroom. Even after taking a bath, the taste of her lips were still on his lips. A small smile played on his lips as he thought about her warm palms against his cold neck and the time he sneaked a peek at her bright red cheeks. He brushed his hair back and stepped out of his bathroom, wrapping his sleeping robes around his body. He lay on bed and closed his eyes, falling asleep with the image of Serephina playing behind his eyes.
