"Is the letter sent?" King Edward asked as he sipped from the goblet. It was not blood but a medical syrup which helped with his nightmares.
"Yes sire. The messenger said that the Alpha will get back to you soon." General Krugal informed, bowing in front of his King.
He nodded his head. "Dismissed." He flicked his hand. General Krugan bowed and exited the room, leaving him alone. There was a knock on the door.
"Come in." He called out, sipping his medicine. His aunt, Malorie Seth came in, closing the door behind her. She was a stout woman with curly brown hair and brown eyes with a permanent smile on her face.
"Your mother will come visit you tomorrow so she asked me to inform you."
Edward sat up straight. "Why didn't she send a messenger?"
"She doesn't trust messengers so she asked me to convey it to you and asked me to inform you that she will be arriving at 10."
"Alright. I shall have her room cleaned. Inform the servants to prepare for her arrival."
"It shall be done." She bowed and left the room. Edward's mother, Lady Jocelyn Seth, was a known noble in the Vampire community for her power and extraordinary beauty. She was feared by the servants in the castle but in reality, his mother was a really sweet person.
After informing the servants to clean her room and hang her gowns in the closet, he took a stroll outside his castle. About three miles south of his castle were the pack borders of the Lunar pack, the only werewolf pack in the Kingdom of Mist. He walked into the serene woods, keeping his distance from the pack borders. The forest always calmed him down and cleared his head.
He looked up at the sky covered with the canopies of the tall trees. He felt a shoulder bumping into his, ruining his mood. He looked angrily at the person who collided with him. It was a tall woman and the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. She had long, black hair flowing over her shoulders and reaching till her waist. Her eyes were blue with flecks of grey in them and she a small mole under her left eye which added to her beauty. She had this ethereal beauty which could not be explained in words. She wore a simple blue gown with a black corset which accentuated her small waist and bosom. His anger had diminished and turned into awe.
"I apologize. I did not see you there." She said in an angelic voice. That seemed to wake him up from his trance.
"It is alright." His eyes fell on the piece of parchment in her hands. "Were you reading something?"
She looked at the letter in her hands. "Oh, its nothing." He suddenly noticed his royal symbol on the exterior of the parchment. He snatched the paper from her hands and read the letter. It was the peace treaty that he had sent the werewolves. He snatched it away from her. He read through the letter. Yes, it was his handwriting.
"Please give it back." She tried to take it back but he caught her wrist.
"Where did you get this?" He asked, in a harsh voice. Anger was boiling in his body. She had turned out to be a thief.
"None of your business." She freed her wrist from his grip. "Why do you care?"
"Its because I had sent it to the Lunar pack's Alpha." She stopped and looked at him, confused.
"You're the King?"
"You're bloody right, I am."
She bowed her head and extended her head. "It is a pleasure to meet you King Edward. I am Serephina Black, Alpha of the Lunar pack."
"You are the Alpha?" He was confused and his anger died down. He had never heard of a female Alpha. He reluctantly took her hand and shook it. "I apologize..."
"No, it is my fault for not recognizing you. I had taken you for someone else. May I have the letter back?" He realized the letter was still in his hands and gave it back to her.
"What do you think of the treaty?" He asked. He wanted to hear her angelic voice for a longer time.
She looked confused. "You want my opinion or the pack's opinion?"
"Your opinion."
She looked flustered. "I would accept it. It seems reasonable to me but there are a lot of people who are against it so I have to hold a meeting."
He nodded his head thoughtfully. "Seems fair."
"By any chance, have we met before?"
He thought for a minute. "I don't think so. Otherwise, I would have remembered your face. Why?"
She looked at his face for a minute. "I must be mistaken then. I apologize for the misunderstanding."
"No issues. I hope to hear soon from you." Edward went back to his castle and called his General.
"Who is the Alpha of the Lunar pack?"
He seemed to think for a minute. "It is the first pack werewolf pack to have a female Alpha instead of a male Alpha. So it has threats coming from other packs, which makes me sure that they will accept your offer."
"Are you saying that the Alpha is unable to protect her pack just because she's a woman?"
He looked flustered. "No sire, I..."
"Dismissed." Edward ordered, flicking his hand. He bowed his head down and left the room, leaving the King alone.
