"I got to meet with the medical examiner and try to figure out what happened to Jackson," Mr. Stilinski said, his gaze on the small notebook he held.
Daire, Scott, and Isaac were in the locker room, along with the rest of the players who had already finished changing after the game. There was a nervous and jittery feeling in the air that raised the hair on Daire's forearms. It wasn't hard to see how Jackson's death impacted everyone.
"I've got an APB out on Stiles," Mr. Stilinski added. "His jeep is still in the parking lot, so that means..."
Daire watched in concern as Mr. Stilinski tried to come up with some sort of reassurance. Something along the lines of 'Stiles could still be on school property' or 'he decided to walk home amongst the confusion on the field'. However, Daire knew what the most likely scenario was.
Stiles was kidnapped.
"I don't know what that means," Mr. Stilinski concluded, running a tired hand across his face. "Look, if he answers his phone, if he answers his email, if any of you see him-"
"We'll call you," Isaac told him with a weak smile.
Daire slid her hand into Isaac's and gave it a light squeeze. He didn't have to offer Mr. Stilinski reassurance and wouldn't have a week ago. It made her happy that he was beginning to make friends.....or at the very least care about her friends.
Scott coughed, drawing everyone's attention. "Look, he's probably just freaked out from all the attention or something. We'll find him."
"Yeah," Mr. Stilinski replied sighing. "I'll call you."
Mr. Stillinski turned and walked away from the group. He made his way to the medical examiner, exchanging a few words before exiting the locker room. Daire turned to open Stiles locker when Coach approached them.
"McCall," he interrupted, looking both concerned and uncomfortable. "We need you on the team, okay? You know I can't put you on the field next season if you don't get your grades up."
"Yeah, I know Coach," Scott replied looking very confused and forlorn about the conversation.
Daire glanced at Isaac and saw that he wore the same expression.
"I mean, I know I yell a lot, but it's not like I hate you guys. Well, I kinda hate Greenberg-"
"But who doesn't hate Greenberg?" Daire interrupted, unable to help herself.
Coach Finstock's lips twitched up into a small smile, "I'm just saying we - I need you on the team. Get your grades up."
"I will," Scott replied with conviction.
"I know," Coach said before exiting abruptly.
"Coast clear?" Daire asked, turning back to Stiles' locker.
Both Scott and Isaac glanced around the pungent locker room.
"I think so," Isaac said.
Taking a bobby pin that Daire kept in her hair for situations just like this picked the lock. Within a few moments, the locker door open and Scott grabbed a shirt.
"You're going to find him by scent?" Isaac asked.
"Is that really so weird? If I remember correctly you've done it before," Daire replied teasingly.
Isaac's face flushed and he grumbled, grabbing Stiles' shoe from Scott's outstretched hand. It took a minute before Isaac realized he'd brought a shoe up to his face.
"How come you get a shirt and I get a shoe?!" he indignantly whined to Scott staring at the sneaker accusingly.
Scott didn't get the chance to give his retort in quintessential smartassery, cut off by Derek who stood behind them.
