It was early in the morning and Daire had hoped to leave before anyone noticed she was even there. She walked out slowly and quietly closed the door behind her.

"Did you spend the night here?" A voice asked.

Startled, Daire let out a screech and whipped around to see Isaac standing behind her on the sidewalk, "bloody fuckin hell you scared me!" she placed a hand on her chest, "and yeah I did, I picked the lock," Daire glanced behind her at the bookstore and then turned back around to face Isaac, "how did you find me?"

Sheepishly Isaac placed a hand at the back of his neck, "I followed your scent."

Daire raised an eyebrow as she turned back towards the door to double-check that it had locked, "do you even have anything of mine to track" as she turned around Isaac's eyes were wide and his ears tinged pink, "wait do you have my scent memorized?" Daire asked.

Suddenly Isaac looked panic and the flush spread from his neck and darkened another shade, "I-I can explain-"

A teasing smile made its way onto Daire's lips, "Cuz I don't know whether to be creeped out or flattered. I'm leaning towards the latter but I could be persuaded..." she trailed off grinning.

It took only a few moments before Isaac realized that she was teasing him, his embarrassed expression morphing into one of mild exasperation, "you know, you can be really cruel,"

Daire giggled and hugged him, it was an impromptu decision on her part.  As she wrapped her arms around him, Isaac tensed. Almost immediately Daire began to pull away but was stopped when he wrapped his own arms around her, "was last night as bad as Derek made it out to be?" he asked. With her face pressed into his sweatshirt, Daire nodded into his chest and tightened her grip. She heard Isaac sigh and felt him rest his chin on top of her head, "what's the plan then? What're you going to do?"

Reluctantly, Daire pulled away just enough so she could look up at him, "I honestly don't know, last night when I saw Allison," Daire paused to gather her thoughts, "she was so angry and sad, I also felt desperation." Daire lowered her gaze, "she's hurting and she thinks that Derek is the one responsible for her mother's death,"

"Did you try to tell her what happened that night?" Isaac asked.

Daire shook her head, "she had me at gunpoint, even if I did tell her that I was the one who bit her mother, I don't think she'd believe me."

Isaac once again placed his chin on top of her head, as if trying to comfort her, "what do you mean? why wouldn't she?"

"She wants to be angry and she wants someone to blame. Someone to hurt," Daire sighed, "I think she's being manipulated by our Grandfucker."

Isaac made a strange noise and Daire looked up to see his face pressed into his shoulder. Having noticed that she was looking at him questionably, he smiled apologetically. "Sorry, your name for him caught me off guard, " his features slowly molded into concern, "why would your grandfather want to manipulate her for?"

"My guess is because he no longer has me, but Allison is sorely underestimating him. My grandfucker plays games, he treats life like chess. He's always five steps ahead of you, even when you think you have the upper hand." Daire paused and looked up at Isaac, "I'm not entirely sure of his endgame but I know he wants Derek and his pack," Daire jabbed a finger at Isaac's chest, "he wants you, so be careful. Please."

Gently Isaac grasped the hand that Daire had poked at his chest, "don't worry, I'll go back into hiding," he raised his gaze from her hand to her eyes, "I just wanted to make sure that you were okay."
