Deaton ushered Daire and Scott over to a metal table full of left over supplies. He quickly grabbed a bottle of rubbing alcohol before turning back to the two teens.

"They're coming back so we don't have much time to talk, " Deaton began pouring some of the liquid onto a gauze.

Scott looked between the bottle and the cut on his stomach, unsure whether to trust his boss, "wh-what is that?"

"It's rubbing alcohol. Don't want it to get infected do you?" Deaton deadpanned.

Daire couldn't help but snort in amusement which earned her a glare from Scott.

Ignoring them Deaton continued to address Scott's wound, "You'll heal the same, just not as quickly because of Derek."

Scott raised an eyebrow, "Okay, how do you know all this? Actually how do you know anything?"

Deaton didn't bother to look up from the bandage he was placing on Scott's abdomen, "It's a long story, what I can tell you is that I know about your kind. Your kind I can help"

Daire couldn't help but interrupt, "what about me?"

Deaton looked up from the newly ripped piece of tape, "I'm sorry Daire, but now's not the time. We have more pressing issues at hand."

Dejected but knowing that he was right Daire nodded her head and fell back into silence, eyes on her blemish free skin. Skin that should still have Derek's scratches on them.

After finishing the bandage Deaton cast a glance at the dead body laying on the metal table, " This, this is something different."

"Do you know what did it?" Scott asked after tearing his gaze away from the gruesome sight.

The vet shook his head, "No, but the Argent's will."

Daire perked up at the mention of her family, already knowing what Deaton was going to tell Scott.

Deaton moved his gaze away from Scott and landed it on her, " Now this is the crucial part, you must find a kind of record or book. Full of descriptions, histories, notations, of all of the things they have discovered."

Scott tried to form a coherent sentence, "All the things? How many things are out there?"

Deaton opened his mouth to say more but at the sound of the front door opening he pushed the two teens towards the back door, "You know it right?" his gaze still on Daire's. She nodded and closed the door, pushing Scott against the wall and pressing a finger to her lips.

She could hear three sets of footsteps enter the back area of the office. Holding her breath she waited.

"I'm starting to think I need to buy a more prominent closed sign."

Daire couldn't help but grin at Deaton's snark.

"Hello Allen,"

Daire tensed at the sound of her grandfucker's voice.

"It's been a long time, the last I heard you had retired."

"The last I heard, you followed a code of conduct."

" If you hadn't noticed this body is one of ours,"

It came to no surprise that the owner of the second voice was her Uncle, Daire peaked into the glass pane of the door, curiosity getting the best of her.

"I did, I also noticed the gun powder residue on his finger tips. So don't assume that I'll be pursued by your philosophy, just cuz I'll answer a few questions." Deaton replied.
