Chapter 29

"Long story short some mid tiers got the jump on me when I wasn't paying attention and injected some kind of drug into me." Sera starts.

"Why haven't I heard anything about this?" Remi says.

"I didn't think it was worth mentioning since I'm just waiting for my ability to return." Sera replies. Remi grasps her chin as things start to click together, so that's why Josephine's been gone before I wake up and being by Sera's side. This makes me wonder. 

"What about you?" Remi glances over to see her nodding off, "Josephine?" she snaps awake.

"I'm sorry were you saying something?" she replies.

"Not really." 

"Josephine, you never answered my question." Sera meets her half asleep gaze, Josephine shakes her head and gently slaps her cheeks before fully meeting Seraphina's gaze.

"Your question regarding my non-ability loss?" 

"That's the one." Sera agrees.

"The only thing that comes to mind is their different approaches." she mentions, "They approached me by disguise and knocked me out like any typical kidnapper would, but for you they injected you with something then stabbed you to inhibit your movements. I bet if the approaches were swapped I'd be the one with ability loss." 

"That makes sense." Sera comments.

"How are you two so calm?!" Remi snaps.

"My ability loss is temporary, and as I said before" Sera explains.

"What if it's permanent?!" Remi continues, "Aren't you curious at all about who those people were and why they're after you two?" she looks between the two, "You're going to leave something that important in the hands of authorities." Josephine places her hand on Remi's shoulder.

"Remi" she says, Remi's gaze trails toward her. "Sera's been through a lot recently, she doesn't need more people bombarding her with question after question." Remi registers thier expressions and sighs.

"Sorry." 

"You're just worried. . there's nothing to" Josephine falls forward as her eyes close, Remi catches her.

"Are you alright?" she asks.

"apologize about." Josephine trails off, Remi helps her back to the bed and she lays down. 

"I didn't mean to butt into your business I'm just worried for you two and everyone else." Remi explains to Sera. "I hope you recover soon. See you around I guess." she heads toward the door, Sera's eyes follows after her, she sighs and glances over to Josephine then at her own injuries leaning back. 

"Sera!" John shouts as he walks into the infirmary.

"Ssh." Sera gestures to Josephine, he follows then not a second later walks over to her. "News sure travels fast. Looks like we've switched places, how ironic." she jokes, he stays silent as his gaze locks on her every trace of injury. 

"Who the hell did this to you?"

"Seems you were right the green bun girl had it out for me. She pushed me down a flight of stairs snapped a picture and ran." she explains.

"Why wasn't Josephine with you? I thought we agreed she'd look out for you while you're in this state." he asks.

"She managed to catch me but I ended up bringing her down with me, and she did what she could." Sera explains and looks over to her bed, "She's completely exhausted herself these past couple of weeks just take a look." she points, his gaze follows.
