Chapter 16

After they left the infirmary they went straight home, Josephine closed and locked the door behind her. John headed straight inside, "Are you going to be alright?" she asked taking off her shoes. 

"I'm fine, don't worry." he stated taking a seat on the couch.

"I don't mean physically." she told him taking a seat beside him, and grabbed his hand.

"What're you doing?" he questioned, she activated her ability and a silver aura outlined John's body. 

"You know what I'm doing, so shut up and let me do it. I'm not taking no as an answer." she stated stubbornly gripping his wrist tighter, as a warning. "Are you alright mentally?"

"I'm fine."

"Don't lie,  I know you had a flashback of our middle school life." she stated, and let go of his hand his injuries healed. "You can't hide anything from me no matter how hard you try. I'll always see through your lies."

". . . " he turned away, Josephine stood up.

"I'm heading to bed now." she handed him a card, he took it. "Feel free to eat whatever you want just don't get carried away." she told him and left for her room. She closed the door, and fell to her knee's her body hurting like hell holding her left arm, blood staining the bandage. Damn those three sure did a number on John. Thankfully the Doc took care of the worst of it, she fell onto her side panting, her eyes closed soon after.

"Josephine?" John's voice called from the other side of her door, she opened her eyes. "It's time for school." he informed, she sat up holding her head. 

"I'll be right out." she responded, and slowly got to her feet. She walked in front of the mirror a not so nice looking Josephine stare's back at her, "I'm a mess." she said and glanced down her uniform covered in dirt, there's no way I can go to school like this. Thankfully, she opened her closest, I have another. 

She changed into her clean uniform, and brushed her hair leaving it down. She stepped out her dirty uniform in hand, she drops it in the machine then heads towards the kitchen. John sat at the table already ready and eating some cereal. "This is quiet a surprise." she teased grabbing her bag of granola, and a bowl.

"What?" 

"Usually I'm the one who has to wake you." she replied pouring in some milk, then took a seat across from him. 

"Here's your card back." John told her handing Josephine her card.

"Thanks, you didn't go crazy did you?" 

"I ordered pizza and a drink." he stated, standing up bowl in hand. "Did you get enough rest?"

"Hm? Oh yes I did." she said, plastering a fake smile on her lips. "Anyway, we need to head to school now." she told him and stood up placing her stuff in the sink. John and Josephine walked to the door, put on their shoes and headed out.

"You look like you were hit with a bus." a cheerful voice called from the left.

"Morning to you to Felisha." Josephine greets as Felisha joins her. 

"Did something happen yesterday?"

"Kinda, sorta. Don't worry though, it's nothing I couldn't handle." Josephine stated proudly.

"Oh really?" Felisha teased and poked Josephine's arm.

"Okay, okay you win." Josephine gave in.

"You should rely on me more, I don't like seeing you like this." Felisha told her, Josephine smiled.

"Thank you, but the last thing I'd want to do is cause you trouble."
